OnePlus 5T users on the OxygenOS Beta build will receive a new OTA update starting today, which brings a couple of new features to the smartphone along with some general bug fixes. OnePlus has added new features to the in-built Launcher app and Gaming mode. The stock Launcher app will now show a recent search tag in search app section of the app drawer, and the Gaming mode now received 'Network Boost' setting allowing users to set network priority for gaming App in the foreground.
Alongside these new changes, OnePlus also added new icons and even updated the user interface of the Weather application. The company also claims to have improved the accuracy of the current location in Weather app. Lastly, OnePlus also fixed some general bugs and improved the overall stability as well.
OnePlus has been adding new features to its OxygenOS platform on a consistent basis. Already, all its recent smartphones are updated to Android 8.0 Oreo, and the company is testing the Android 8.1 Oreo update on a couple of smartphones. The stable 8.1 Oreo update is expected to hit the OnePlus 5 and 5T in the next couple of months.
In other news, OnePlus is working hard on optimising the OxygenOS for its upcoming OnePlus 6, not by adding new features, but to support the infamous and confirmed notch. OnePlus, in a blog post stated that it's making sure that users will not get distracted with the notch on the top. OnePlus says that an area where the users will get distracted with the notch is while accessing the notifications.
Thanks to the much smaller notch, the status bar will display more notification icons and OnePlus already confirmed that it's moving the clock to the left from the right, same as what Google did in the first developer preview of Android P.
