Oppo Electronics has silently introduced a new model to their portfolio, dubbed, the Oppo A71 (2018). This variant succeeds the original Oppo A71, which was launched just a four months ago. The Oppo A71 (2018) is now official in Pakistan, and it might make into the Indian market this month itself. The USP of the new A71 is the AI-Beauty Recognition, and it also brings in a couple of improvements to the hardware as well. In Pakistan, the phone is available in two colours- gold and black and in a single variant whose price is PKR 19,899 (approx. Rs 11,508).

Oppo A71 (2018) Specifications and Features
Surprisingly, the A71 (2018) doesn't offer an 18:9 display as it comes with a 5.2-inch 720p display with 16:9 aspect ratio. At the bottom of the phone, we have the three capacitive navigation keys. And the design of the phone is pretty similar too.

The major upgrade in the A71 (2018), when compared to Oppo A71, is the chipset. The MediaTek MT6750 SoC is replaced by the much powerful and efficient Snapdragon 450 SoC, which is an octa-core SoC built on top of the 14nm manufacturing process. The chipset is mated to just 2GB of RAM. To recall, the original Oppo A71 arrived with 3GB of RAM, and the reason for the decrease in RAM is unknown at the moment. Graphics in the device are taken care by Adreno 506 GPU.

Another major letdown is the phone doesn't have a fingerprint scanner. Yes, you heard it right. Oppo did not add a fingerprint scanner, but the company might have included the Face Unlock feature. However, there's no mentioning of this in the official listing. The smartphone boots ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. The original A71 boots ColorOS 3.1 out of the box.

Some other specifications such as the 16MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, 3000mAh battery, 16GB of internal storage are similar in both the phones. Also, the latest version has the same measurements as the original A71 at 148.1 x 73.8 x 7.6 mm, and it weighs 137grams.

The smartphone also supports the much-hyped Oppo AI Beauty Recognition Technology, which offers a suitable beauty effect depending on your face.
