OnePlus 8 Pro Likely to Feature 120Hz Fluid AMOLED Display

OnePlus 8 Pro will come with a Fluid AMOLED screen that offers 120Hz refresh rate, which will be an improvement from 90Hz refresh rate we saw on the OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7T series. At the OnePlus 7T launch event in September, the Chinese company officially confirmed that all its future smartphones would ship with at least 90Hz Fluid AMOLED display. OnePlus was probably the first brand to bring high refresh rate screen to the mainstream audience. Before the OnePlus 7 Pro, high refresh rate screens were limited to gaming smartphones, but that has been changed now. The upcoming Realme X2 Pro is expected to offer 90Hz screen under Rs 30,000 and it will be one of the most important features on a smartphone going forward.

OnePlus 8 Pro to Get a 120Hz Screen: What You Need to Know

OnePlus recently launched the 7T and 7T Pro smartphones featuring 90Hz screens. However, a lot of people disappointed with the 7T Pro as the phone did not bring any significant upgrades over its predecessor- the OnePlus 7 Pro. OnePlus decided not to include 120Hz screen on the 7T Pro probably because it wants to retain the feature for OnePlus 8 Pro. Tipster Max.J (@Samsung_News_) says the OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a 120Hz screen, up from the 90Hz screens we saw on 2019 OnePlus phones.

At the moment, we don't have any info regarding the standard OnePlus 8, but we're expecting it to retain the 90Hz screen from the OnePlus 7T.

Right after the OnePlus 7T India launch on September 26, first renders of the OnePlus 8 came out, hinting at a punch-hole design. And a day after the OnePlus 7T Pro launch on October 10, factory renders of the OnePlus 8 Pro were posted online and the phone looks pretty much identical to the OnePlus 7T Pro.

Right now, the cheapest phone in India with a 120Hz screen is the Asus ROG Phone 2, but it's a gaming phone priced at Rs 37,999. The OnePlus 7T has a 90Hz Fluid AMOLED display and it's also available for purchase at Rs 37,999. Notably, Realme is all set to launch the Realme X2 Pro smartphone in India on November 20 and the phone also packs a 90HZ Fluid AMOLED screen. The Realme X2 Pro could start at Rs 29,999 and it will be the cheapest phone in the country with a 90Hz screen.

OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro: What We Know So Far?

OnePlus is rumoured to launch the OnePlus 8 series in Q2 2020, similar to the OnePlus 7 series of phones. The OnePlus 8 series will have two smartphones- OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro. Both the phones will feature identical design, at least that's what the factory CAD images reveal. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro phones will have a punch-hole display. As for the design, the OnePlus 8 will look a lot like the OnePlus 7 Pro with its vertical triple camera setup, whereas the OnePlus 8 Pro will look identical to the OnePlus 7T Pro and it will be the first OnePlus phone to feature quad-camera setup.

Right now, we don't have any hardware specifications of the OnePlus 8 series, but they will most likely pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. The phones may offer up to 50W fast charging technology and they may not feature wireless charging functionality. We're still six months away from the launch and new details regarding the OnePlus 8 series will be coming in the meanwhile.
