OnePlus has always been very committed to rolling out the latest software update to not only its new phones but also the old ones. Beginning this week, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer announced that it is looking for 100 closed beta testers for testing OxygenOS on the OnePlus 6T. Additionally, OnePlus is also conducting a closed beta test for HydrogenOS to bring Android 9 Pie’s sweetness to OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. OnePlus is now allowing the public to beta test the Android Pie version of HydrogenOS for both the OnePlus 5 and 5T. Do make a note that HydrogenOS is OnePlus' skin on top of Android, while globally, it's known as OxygenOS. With HydrogenOS Public Beta already rolling out in China, OnePlus might roll out the OxygenOS Open Beta based on Android 9 Pie to OnePlus 5 and 5T in international markets very soon.

OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus 6T, which is also the first phone from OnePlus to launch with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. As OnePlus promises that all its OnePlus phones starting OnePlus 3/3T will get three years consecutive Android updates, we expect the OnePlus 6T to get upgraded to Android Q and also Android R. Officially, OnePlus 6 was the first phone from the company to get Android 9 Pie.

HydrogenOS Public Beta Brings Various New Features

The update not only brings the Android P but also comes along with several system updates including a brand new UI design, a new background control solution for a lighter and smoother experience and also Android patch update to November 2018. We expect Android security patch to bring improvements and bug fixes. Additionally, the update also brings some updates and changes to improve the overall communication of the user. The update brings features like -- SMS verification code that spreads the display, check the verification code one step faster, optimise strange number recognition, emergency rescue UI optimisation, and more.

The update also adds the ability to set a default card for a single contact or group in dual card mode and also optimises the speed dial and call interface UI design.

It also comes packed with Do Not Disturb mode. Explaining the feature OnePlus says “more powerful do not disturb mode, do not disturb behaviour and time are defined by you.” The update also brings OnePlus Weather feature to the users.
