O2 Slovakia has expanded its 5G network, now covering over 82 percent of the population. Since the start of 2024, the operator has brought 5G connectivity to 673 additional towns and cities, increasing total coverage to 1,682 locations. This marks a rise from 70.1 percent coverage at the beginning of the year to 82.8 percent by the end of September, O2 Slovakia said in an official release.

O2's 5G Expansion
The network upgrade is part of O2's ongoing infrastructure modernisation, aimed at improving signal quality and expanding 5G availability. According to O2's Chief Technology Officer, the enhanced 5G network offers customers faster, more stable connections and enables the use of futuristic mobile technologies.
"The advantages of the 5G network for customers are primarily the stability and speed of the data connection. Switching to a higher speed provides customers with an even better user experience for activities such as using data, listening to music, or watching movies and videos. The latest technologies enable faster data flow, which enhances the use of mobile applications," the release said.

5G Device Adoption
O2 reports that with 5G-compatible devices on the rise, now accounting for 31.8 percent of users at the end of September, the operator offers in-store consultations to help customers set up their devices and fully benefit from the upgraded network.
O2 also highlights that 8 out of 10 people can now connect to its 5G network as the operator continues its network infrastructure modernisation efforts.
