Nothing Phone (2) Boasts Flagship Features, But is it Over Priced?

Nothing has not made any major design changes on the device. The back glass has been curved a little, and then you have the Glyph Interface, but with a slightly modified structure to add in more functionality. Nothing has tried its best to make it look not gimmicky, and I think it has succeeded to do that to some extent.

Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing Phone (2) has been hyped so much over the last few weeks. The phone has finally been launched now. Nothing Phone (2) looks like a flagship phone from afar, but is it really the one that you should go for today? Well, it is something I can't comment on without first using the device. Regardless, now we know the price and its specifications and what Nothing has really aimed for. So let's talk about the phone and its features and see if it looks really good on paper in 2023 or not.

Nothing Phone (2) Specifications, Are They Really Flagship?

Nothing has not made any major design changes on the device. The back glass has been curved a little, and then you have the Glyph Interface, but with a slightly modified structure to add in more functionality. Nothing has tried its best to make it look not gimmicky, and I think it has succeeded to do that to some extent.

Talking about the display, the Nothing Phone (2) comes with a 6.7-inch flexible OLED display with an LTPO panel to support AOD and improve battery efficiency. The peak brightness has gone from 1200nits on Nothing Phone (1) to 1600nits on Nothing Phone (2). Talking specifically about the glyph, there are a lot of additions. There are no individual addressable zones, Glyph Timer, Bedtime Schedule, Reverse Charge Glyph, Google Assistant Feedback, and more.

Also, from Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ on Nothing Phone (1), the company has utilised the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 on Nothing Phone (2). This is likely to keep the hardware costs in check while making the phone powerful; otherwise, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 would have been a better option because of the power and battery efficiency.

In the camera department, there's a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor at the back as the primary sensor. This is the sensor that you will find in OnePlus 11 as well. In addition to this, there's a secondary sensor at the rear which is also a 50MP sensor but comes from Samsung. The Nothing Phone (2) can support video recording in 4K 60fps. Further, there's an Action Mode and support for OIS and EIS image stabilisation. There is also support for timelapse recording in 4K. For selfies, there's a 16MP sensor at the front.

The Nothing Phone (2) does look like a device that falls under the flagship category. But very honestly, it looks like a flagship phone from 2022 instead of 2023. What can actually help this device stand apart is the OS experience and the camera performance. If that's excellent, then it is a huge contender to devices in the same price range.

Let's take a look at the price now.

Nothing Phone (2) Price

The Nothing Phone (2) has been priced at Rs 44,999 for the base 8GB+128GB variant. It is also going to be available in 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB variants for Rs 49,999 and Rs 55,999. It is not ultra-expensive, but it is not very cheap either. The device will go on sale from July 21 on Flipkart. If you are a pre-pass holder, then you can place the order today itself. There are bank offers of discounts up to Rs 3000 from HDFC Bank and Axis Bank.
