HMD Global, the new head of Nokia Mobiles at the launch event of the first batch Android-powered Nokia smartphones claimed that they would release monthly security patch updates for every Nokia smartphone they release. At first glance, it seemed like a distant dream because no vendors are rolling out timely software updates in current days.
However, it seems like HMD is keeping up the promise as the brand has pushed out the July security patch update for the Nokia 6- the brand's high-end smartphone at the moment. That said, the Nokia 6 is the first smartphone to get the July security patch update, ahead of Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. Google did not either post the July security patches in the security bulletin page.
The update was first reported by Nokiapoweruser, and also claims that the Chinese version of Nokia 6 will receive the June and July security patch updates very soon. The current update for Nokia 6 weighs around 149MB in size.
Besides the security patch fixes, the update doesn't add any new features whatsoever. For the uninitiated, all the Nokia smartphones came out with Android 7.0 Nougat update. However, Nokia did not release the update for Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 though. Nokia also cleared the air recently that the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3 will receive Android O update when Google announces it officially.
On June 13, HMD announced all the three Nokia smartphones in the Indian market, but only the Nokia 3 is up for sale at the moment. The Nokia 5 will be available for pre-order from July 7 exclusively in the offline market, while the Nokia 6 will be available for pre-order from July 14 on Amazon India.
The Nokia 6 is priced at Rs. 14,999 and will be sold exclusively on Amazon.in, but the exact shipping date is still unknown. The Nokia 5 costs Rs. 12,999 and the sale date for the smartphone .in, but the exact shipping date is still unknown. The Nokia 5 costs Rs. 12,999 and the sale date for the smartphone is unknown as well. And Nokia 3 is already selling in the country for Rs. 9,499.
