HMD Global had earlier announced to upgrade some of the new and also old Nokia phones to the latest iteration of Android- Android 9 Pie. And the company is well living up to their promises. The first Nokia phone to get Android 9 Pie’s sweetness was the Nokia 7 Plus. HMD is now rolling out Android 9 Pie to two other phones. One is the recently launched Nokia 6.1 Plus and one is a slightly older phone, Nokia 6.1. Both these Nokia phone users can now upgraded to Pie from Oreo. The software rollout is happening in a phased manner, meaning, if you haven’t received the update yet you should wait as you’ll probably get it in a day or two.

The Nokia 6.1 received the update first, followed by the Nokia 6.1 Plus yesterday. Both the Nokia phones were launched with Android Oreo software. As noted, Nokia 7 Plus was the first phone from the company to get upgraded to Android 9 Pie. The company has also promised that all the other Nokia Android One phones will get Android 9 Pie update soon, including the newly launched Nokia 5.1 Plus.
Android Pie Brings New Features to Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus
All Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus users should start receiving the OTA update for Pie right now. As noted, the rollout is happening in a phased manner, which means, if you haven’t received the update you should get it soon. Possibly today. Google launched the Android 9 Pie in August and the Pixel and Essential phones were the first ones to get the software onboard. Some of the other phones that were upgraded to Pie soon after the launch of the software were Nokia 7 Plus, OnePlus 6, among others.
