MIUI 11 Might Allow Xiaomi Smartphone Users to Disable Ads Manually

MIUI 11 is the next version of MIUI that is expected to launch sometime later this month alongside the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4. MIUI is one of the feature-rich Android skins out there, but almost every user is now aware of the ads which the custom interface from Xiaomi comes with. MIUI comes with a lot of ads inside the in-built apps, ads through system notifications, and in the past, there are some instances where users noticed ads even in the Settings app. After a lot of outrage on the internet, Xiaomi decided to reduce the appearance of the ads on smartphones, however, MIUI still shows ads considering the company charges only 5% through hardware. Xiaomi has now confirmed that it will soon introduce a switch inside MIUI that will allow users to disable ads on their smartphone and it might be introduced with forthcoming MIUI 11.

MIUI to Soon Offer Manual Disable Option for Ads

A few months back, Xiaomi stated that MIUI 11 would show very minimal ads compared to MIUI 10 as the company doesn't want to ruin the user experience. A few days ago, MIUI Experience Head, has confirmed that the company will soon introduce an option that will allow users to disable the ads entirely on their smartphone. Right now, there are several ways to disable ads on Xiaomi smartphones, but it has to be done individually and it's a time-consuming process. Nevertheless, Xiaomi is going to introduce a manual button that will disable the ads altogether when enabled. No doubt it will be the most useful feature Xiaomi has ever introduced.

Xiaomi's entry-level, budget and mid-range smartphones ship with ads, whereas the company's flagship phones don't feature any ads. For example, the recently launched Redmi K20 series does not show any ads- except for the notifications from Xiaomi's app like Browser, App Store and so on. Xiaomi is calling the ads on Redmi K20 series as 'Display Ads,' which will not run the user experience.

Even last year's Poco F1 did not feature any ads considering it's a flagship smartphone from the company.

MIUI 11 Launching Soon: What to Expect?

MIUI 11 will be the next major MIUI update from Xiaomi that's expected to launch later this month. Xiaomi is readying its flagship smartphone- the Mi MIX 4 and the China launch of the phone could happen on September 24. The Mi MIX 4 could be the first phone to come with Android 10-based MIUI 11. The MIUI 11 update will be rolled out to the majority of Xiaomi smartphones in a phased manner.

As for the features, MIUI 11 is expected to bring a new look to the overall user interface including new app icons, new System UI and so on. Also, it will feature the much-awaited manual switch to disable the ads. It's also expected that MIUI 11 will also introduce MIUI Always on Display feature for AMOLED display smartphones. There will be a native Dark Mode within the software itself.
