Facebook-owned WhatsApp seems set to update its app across Android, iOS, Windows Phone and Web platforms. The beta versions of the app have received new features which are likely to reach in the stable version of WhatsApp soon enough.
The WhatsApp Web number 2.7315 now comes with two new features namely, Private Replies and Picture-in-Picture. On the other hand, app versions 2.17.424, 2.17.436 and 2.17.437 pack in new features such as Tap to unblock a user, New invite via a link and Shake to report.
Here are some of the latest WhatsApp beta features:
Private Replies in Group
The Private Reply is a new feature that allows a user to reply privately to a group message. Basically, a person in a group gets an option called Reply Privately using which one can send a message to a particular member which the others cannot view. This feature was spotted in the WhatsApp Web version.
Picture in Picture
One of the hottest features, the picture-in-picture support for WhatsApp is also showing up in the web version. The PiP feature is aimed to allow users to multifunction when taking a video call.
There appears to be a new icon that will be available when you are taking a video call. After selecting this icon, a picture in picture mode will start in a new window. You can now resize the video window or maximise it according to your needs.
Tap to Unblock User
The latest WhatsApp beta build will give you an option wherein you can just tap and hold any contact to unblock that person and send him/her a message.
New Invite via Link Shortcut
The invite via link feature is already available for an iOS app but will come to Android users as well. It will allow Admins of a group to send a link to their prospective members so they can join the group directly.
Shake to Report
Other than that, there is an interesting new feature dubbed Shake To Report. This feature allows you the option to report any problems you face with the current version of WhatsApp. In order to use this feature, users will have to just shake the device which opens the Contact Us section of the app. The feature is available in the WhatsApp beta version number 2.17.437.
Admin Settings
With this features, group admins get more control over sending messages in a group and editing group information. The Setting will be added to the WhatsApp version 2.17.437.
