Reliance Jio has been leading the prepaid tariff segment for a while which is known to everyone. However, it has been a leader when it comes to providing OTT content to the users. Reliance Jio has various OTT apps like JioTV, JioCinema and JioSaavn catering to different needs of the customers. JioTV app offers Live TV service to the customers, whereas the JioCinema app provides over 10,000 movies and TV shows to the users. All the prepaid and postpaid plans tariff plans of Reliance Jio ship with these app subscriptions which makes it even more enticing. Bharti Airtel has a single app for all both Live TV and other content, but Reliance Jio has different apps. JioTV app is now providing a total of 647 Live TV channels which is nearly double the channel count offered by Airtel Xstream app right now. In JioTV app, Entertainment channels are leading the chart.

JioTV Channel Count Reaches 647 Dominating Other Apps

The strong forte of JioTV is its wide range of channels which it offers to the viewers. It is worth noting that a few months back, Reliance Jio was offering 640 channels on its JioTV application which was way more than what any other Live TV application was providing. However, owing to some of the recent changes on the platform, the number of Live TV channels on the JioTV platform has been increased to 647, meaning an increase of seven channels. Now a lot of you might think that this might mean a competitive advantage for other Live TV applications, but sadly that is not the case.

The strong point of Reliance Jio’s app is the enormous number of channels that it offers to the viewers. In the previous comparison between JioTV and Airtel TV, which is a close competitor of JioTV, Airtel TV was offering 373 channels to the subscribers. But, even Airtel has also reduced the count of channels on its online Live TV platform and is only offering 364 channels to the subscribers. The thing to note here is that even after a cut in channels on both the platforms, Reliance Jio’s JioTV app maintains the lead over Airtel TV.

JioTV vs Airtel Xstream Comparison

Reliance Jio’s JioTV offers TV shows across many languages like English, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam and more. The channels are available to the subscribers of Reliance Jio on JioTV range from many genres like news, sports, entertainment, movies etc. The application offers a lot of HD channels too. The only area where the Airtel Xstream application has the edge over JioTV is when it comes to additional benefits. The Airtel Xstream removes the need to download an additional application for on-demand content by offering 10,000 movies and TV show titles. For this purpose, the Jio subscribers are required to download the JioCinema application separately on their phones.

JioTV Subscription is Available for Free to All Jio Paid Customers

Reliance Jio's prepaid plans now start at Rs 98 as the telco has recently removed Sachet Packs of Rs 19 and Rs 52. All the Jio prepaid plans ship with free JioTV subscription and even other Jio apps subscriptions like JioCinema, JioNews come bundled with the same. For JioSaavn, customers will have to purchase a subscription which is available on a monthly or yearly basis. As for the JioTV, it's available for free which is a good thing. In other news, JioTV also received Dark Mode very recently, which again is to compete with the Airtel Xstream app.
