Reliance Jio never shy’s away from offering something extra to its customers for the same price its competitors are offering something for. Jio’s fiber broadband arm, JioFiber, follows the same philosophy. While JioFiber, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Bharat Fibre, and Airtel Xstream Fiber all offer a Rs 1,499 broadband plan to the customers, the plan from JioFiber is truly the best and not just because of one reason, but multiple of them. JioFiber offers a ton of OTT benefits along with a free Set-Top Box (STB) to the customers with its plans. Let’s see the details.
JioFiber Rs 1499 Broadband Plan Is Better Than What Airtel and BSNL Offer, Here’s Why
First of all, note that the Rs 1499 broadband plan from all the companies, including JioFiber, BSNL, and Airtel, offer 300 Mbps speed to the users. All the companies offer the same amount of months fair usage policy (FUP) data as well, which is 3.3TB, and users get a free fixed-line connection for voice calling with each of the plans. But overlooking these basic benefits, which are the same as all the companies, there are a few benefits that only Jio provides to its customers.
JioFiber gives users a free subscription to 16 different over-the-top (OTT) platforms with its plans. These include - ZEE5 Premium, Voot Kids, Voot Select, SonyLIV, Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix (Basic), Hoichoi, Sun NXT, Lionsgate Play, JioCinema, Discovery+, Eros Now, ShemarooMe, ALTBalaji, and JioSaavn.
The Amazon Prime Video subscription offered with the plan is of 1-year. On top of this, JioFiber users can also claim a free hybrid STB from the company. Through that STB, they can convert their normal TV into a Smart TV and also utilise all of the OTT benefits they got with the plan.
Airtel Xstream app that includes over 10,000 movies & shows aggregated across 7 OTT apps and 5 studios into one seamless experience. BSNL users get a free subscription to the Disney+ Hotstar Premium (I don’t know how that works with new subscribers since the Disney+ Hotstar Premium plan structure has been discontinued).
Airtel Xstream Fiber users can also opt for the Xstream Box, but they will have to pay a Rs 1,500 security deposit (refundable in nature) against the Android Box. This Android Box is arguably the best in India, but it still doesn’t come for free, unlike Jio’s STB, which doesn’t cost anything. Considering all of the above, there’s no doubt that the Rs 1499 plan from JioFiber is the best.
