Reliance Jio has removed its Rs 119 plan from its offerings. The telco introduced the plan after the tariff hikes in late 2021. This plan came with 14 days of validity and offered customers 1.5GB of daily data, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day. But this plan is no longer available for customers in any part of the country. The telco has changed its most affordable plan from Rs 119 to a higher-tier plan. This move is just like what Airtel made and would help the company in improving its average revenue per user (ARPU) figure.
The new most affordable or the cheapest plan from Jio is the Rs 149 plan.

Airtel and Jio's Cheapest Prepaid Plans Priced Very Close Now
The telco's new cheapest plan is priced very close to Airtel's cheapest plan of Rs 155. If you are looking for validity and voice calling benefits, then Airtel's plan is a better value option here as it comes with 24 days of validity and unlimited voice calling. But the data benefit is just 1GB in total. However, with Jio's plan, you get 1GB of daily data, but the validity is 20 days instead of 24 days with Airtel's plan.
The move will enable Jio to boost its ARPU figure, which stood at Rs 180.5 during Q1 FY24. In comparison, Airtel's ARPU touched Rs 200. Airtel is comfortably earning way more out of each of its customers than Jio and Airtel. Reliance Jio would require steep tariff hikes and more high-paying customers to reach near Airtel's ARPU figure.
