Idea Cellular has revised its Rs. 348 plan on April 1 which now offers 1GB data per day instead of 500MB it was offering on a daily basis earlier. India’s third largest telecom network has modified its plan to match the benefits provided by rival operators.
The revised Idea Rs. 348 plan now comes with 1GB of data limit per day in line with the Airtel and Vodafone’s offer. In addition, the plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls for 28 days. However, the Rs. 348 pack is only for 4G handset users. Customers with a 4G handset will get 1GB of data whereas those who don't have a 4G handset will be rewarded with just 50MB of data.

The Aditya Birla-owned entity made this move just after Jio’s announcement of Jio Summer Surprise plan, where customers can enjoy 1GB data per day at just Rs. 402 for four months, and 2GB data per day at just Rs. 598.
Airtel, the country’s leading telecom operator, is offering a similar plan with benefits including 1GB data per day along with unlimited local and STD calling at just Rs. 345 plan. Vodafone, India’s second largest telecom network, on the other hand, is offering the same plan at Rs. 342, but it is limited only to segmented users. Vodafone’s Rs. 342 pack also bundles 1GB of data per day along with unlimited calling for 28 days.
Vodafone, India' second largest telecom network also has the similar plan of Rs. 342, but the company is offering it only for segmented users. Vodafone's Rs. 342 pack also bundles 1GB of data per day along with unlimited calling for 28 days.
And finally, BSNL offers the best plan of all. BSNL recently revamped their promotional plan of Rs. 349, which now offers 2GB data per day along with unlimited on-net calling, and 25 minutes of free off-net voice calling.
Of late, all the telecom operators in India are focusing on delivering more data at affordable prices, especially after the advent of Reliance Jio's free 4G services. It will be interesting to see how incumbent operators will combat Reliance Jio after April 15, 2017. Surely, the top telecom operators in India will try to match Jio's new Summer Suprise offer in coming days. So, expect another significant disruption in the Indian telecom sector going forward.
