Google continues to integrate third-party apps on its search pages, in an effort to make it user-friendly. The latest integration is the Zomato and Swiggy that will enable the people to place the order for food without leaving the search.
While a user searches a restaurant in Google Search on the phone, he/she will see an option “Place an Order”, with two options provided - to order via Zomato or Swiggy. Once clicked, it will take the user to the respective pages, where the order can be placed. The “Place an Order” will provide details such as address, timing, and contact information as well. Similar to Zomato and Swiggy, users can also reserve tables using Dineout and Bytplus.
This is the same way Google Maps suggests users Ola and Uber with an option to book. According to a blog post, Google will add more partners over time. It may also change the user interface in future. "Initially, you’ll be able to order food via Zomato and Swiggy, and make your restaurant reservations with Dineout and Bytplus using Google Search and the Google app on your Android or iOS phone or tablet. These features are just rolling out and we’ll be adding more partners and evolving the look and feel over time." Google app on Android, iOS phone or tablet gets the feature.
Recently, Google also reduced the loading times for the web pages by expanding Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) project to all its search results. Initially, the AMP was introduced in February 2016 targeting mobile users, to load the news and other articles from publishers quickly on mobiles. Later, it was expanded to other segments including e-commerce, entertainment, etc.
