Just a couple of days ago, Gionee A1 was announced at an event in New Delhi, but the Chinese firm chose not to reveal the price of the device. Having said that, Gionee today announced the price of the phone and it costs Rs. 19,999 in India. Same as the other Gionee phones, the A1 will also be available via offline retail stores.
The interesting thing, however, is that: Gionee is offering two years of manufacturer warranty for users who pre-book the device offline. The pre-booking for the phone starts on March 31 in offline stores. Along with the two-year warranty, users will either get an optic JBL headphone or a Swiss Military Bluetooth Speaker as another complementary for pre-booking. The phone will be available in three colour options- grey, gold, and black.
The company also claimed that the phone would be sold via Amazon India and the availability date is still a mystery. To recall, the Gionee A1 was announced at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona, Spain last month alongside the Gionee A1 Plus, whose Indian launch is still unknown.
Gionee is betting big on the Gionee A1' selfie camera as it comes with a single 16MP front-facing camera with 1/3.06-inch sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and LED flash. The front-facing camera also comes with a bokeh effect mode. Gionee also has added a 13MP rear camera with 1/3.06-inch Sony IMX258 sensor with support for PDAF, and dual tone LED flash.
The A1 packs a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 SoC, clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. The storage is expandable via microSD card up to 256GB, but it's a hybrid slot, which means that you can either use a memory card or secondary SIM card.
The phone measures 8.5mm in thickness and weigh 182 grams. The heavyweight is due to the large 4010mAh battery, which also comes with 18W ultrafast charging technology. The Gionee A1 is the company's first smartphone to boot Android 7.0 Nougat on top of Amigo UI 4.0. The phone has connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and micro USB port.
The Gionee A1 will face stiff competition in the Indian market from the likes of Vivo V5, Oppo F1s, which are some selfie branded smartphones in the same price segment.
