Initial 5G SA Launch

This expansion follows EE's initial launch in 15 major locations at the start of September, which included all four UK capitals and major cities such as Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Sheffield. With this latest move, EE's 5G SA network will reach nearly 21 million people, covering almost one-third of the UK population.

According to the official release, EE will deliver at least 95 percent outdoor coverage in every town or city where it has launched 5G standalone to date, ensuring that customers receive the most reliable and consistent experience across the network.

Advantages of 5G Standalone Technology

By connecting directly to a pure 5G network rather than via 4G, EE allows for better performance in busy areas and during major events, the operator explained. 5G standalone delivers improved video calls, streaming, and online gaming, as well as higher-quality voice calls in busy places, EE said.

Supporting AI-Powered Mobile Applications

EE also said that 5G standalone optimises the performance of artificial intelligence (AI) applications, ensuring mobile customers can access the best AI experiences now and in the future.

This upgrade also supports AI-powered tools like Galaxy AI and Gemini AI, enhancing mobile AI applications with cloud connectivity and minimal latency.
