German telecommunications service provider Deutsche Telekom announced that it had expanded its mobile network coverage at 535 sites in the four weeks leading up to September 26. This expansion includes the construction of 96 new sites equipped with both 4G and 5G technology, depending on regional needs. Additionally, capacity has been increased at 439 existing locations, with 5G activated for the first time at 89 of them.

Mobile Network Expansion
The rollout has brought over 12,800 5G antennas across 950 cities and municipalities nationwide, utilising the fast 3.6 GHz frequency to offer download speeds of up to 1 Gbps. Currently, 97 percent of households can access Telekom's 5G network, while 4G coverage exceeds 99 percent, the official release said.
Deutsche Telekom also noted that it is constructing an average of five new mobile sites per day to expand mobile network coverage and strengthen its 5G presence.
FTTH Milestone: Crosses 9 Million Mark
In another development regarding FTTH, Deutsche Telekom reported that its FTTH service, offering speeds of up to 1 Gbps, is now available to 9.1 million households in Germany, following the addition of 200,000 homes in August. This milestone pushes Telekom past the 9 million subscriber mark.

Fiber Optic Network in Germany
More than 36 million households can subscribe to a tariff providing broadband at speeds of up to 100 Mbps, with over 30 million households able to access download speeds of up to 250 Mbps. With a network spanning more than 770,000 kilometres, Telekom will have the largest fiber optic network in Germany, the operator said in a recent release.
