D2h, one of the biggest service provider in the industry was one of the few to first come up with the BST packs to allow its subscribers to make an easy choice about their FTA channels based on regions, languages and genres. After combo packs, add-on packs and more offerings, the BST packs are a new addition in D2h’s portfolio. In case you are a D2h subscriber then the BST packs are worth checking out so that you can make a good choice with your FTA channels.

Various BST Packs in D2h Portfolio

The norm by Trai says that subscribers will have to pay Rs 153 inclusive of all taxes to get 100 FTA channels, out of which 25 channels will be mandatory DD channels. If the subscriber wants to get more channels, then they will have to pay an additional fee of Rs 20 for 25 channels over the standard 100 channel limit. It is worth noting that this NCF will only be the network charge for particular channels, and subscribers will have to pay content charges if they subscribe to pay channels. The content charge in case of the FTA channels is nil.

The Basic Service Tier (BST) pack is an easy way for the subscribers to get FTA channels without any hassle depending on their regional language and their viewing habits. The BST pack will get the subscribers all the FTA channels as per their choice, and it will only cost them Rs 153 plus the additional slab of Rs 20 as they keep increasing their channel count. The various BST packs listed on the D2h website include the Basic Service Tier Combo which encompasses different channels from all regional languages and genres. The second BST pack is the “BST – Rest of India” pack. Other BST packs include BST – East, BST – All-South, BST – Tamil, BST – Telugu, BST – Malayalam and BST – Kannada. D2h on its website has also noted that these packs will come with a lock-in period of 30 days.

Add-On Packs by D2h and Extension of Trai Deadline

In addition to its BST packs, D2h has also launched add-on packs in its portfolio as well. Some of these add-on packs include Hindi Khel, Hindi Cricket, English Cricket, English Premium Sports, Mega Sports, Kids and Infotainment, Mega English, Mega Kids Add-On, Best of Marathi, Mega Marathi, Mega Gujarathi. In a related development, Trai in its latest direction has extended the deadline for the implementation of the new tariff regime to March 31. The previous deadline given by Trai was February 1, however, looking at the grim numbers which the DTH providers, cable TV operators and other service providers have achieved regarding subscriber migration, Trai has decided to extend the deadline.
