BSNL Upgrades Landline and Broadband Billing SystemIndia’s largest telecommunication service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is going to migrate its existing billing system to state-of-art Call Detail Record (CDR) billing system for all of landline and broadband customers.

The first run of the new billing system was done on Calcutta Telephones (BSNL Kolkata), with effect from billing period Nov'11 (Bill dates between 01.12.2011 to 31.12.2011).

Now after the successful migration to new billing system in Kolkata circle, BSNL is going to upgrade the billing system for all circles from March, 2012.

The new billing system will be based on circle/zone wise, and it will contain itemized billing, call details, free calls, meter reading, previous payments, discounts etc. just like private operators do.During this migration procedure there will be some minor and temporary problem with bill payment but BSNL customer care services is well informed and happy to help you.

The Current meter wise billing system is not transparent and has issues like.

1. No. of actual free calls used does not have any information like which type of calls were made, Local Landline, Mobile or STD

2. Chargable calls calculations

4. No details about Landline plan and broadband plan

5. No Call details

6. No Usage/consumption of Broadband data for the month

As per their new CDR system they are saying they are going to rectify the above problems so if this is into action then BSNL will have service and billing system neck to neck with Private operators and this is a win win situation for customer and BSNL.
