Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, the state-led telecom operator, has done something which it has never previously done before on the consumer front. The telecom operator has been making some pretty bold moves coining them as consumer-centric decisions for the good of the company. However, for the first time, BSNL is bringing membership programme for its customers. It is worth noting that private telecom operators like Bharti Airtel already have a consumer rewards and loyalty programme under which they distribute benefits to its customers. What BSNL is bringing to its customers will be called as Star membership, and it will also get the customers, certain exclusive benefits.

BSNL STAR Membership Details

The government-led telco has launched the BSNL Star membership or the Star plan for Rs 498. In this plan, the subscribers of BSNL will enjoy unlimited local, STD and roaming calls with 30GB data and 1000 SMSes for 30 days. The total validity of this plan will be 365 days. Hence, the validity of the freebies of the plan will be limited to 30 days, whereas the entire plan will be of 365 days. However, what makes the Star membership different is that in this period, whenever the subscribers recharge with STVs like STV 97, they will get a discount. BSNL has noted that the STV 97 will be available to the subscribers for Rs 76, whereas STV 447 will be available to the subscribers for Rs 407. At the moment, the Star membership can be availed only through the Rs 498 prepaid plan.

BSNL's Consumer Centric Moves

It is very well known that BSNL has been cash strapped ever since the data tariff war started draining the industry of its financials. The lack of 4G service with the telco led it to the pit of losses which have now widened too much. To counter this, BSNL has been resorting to consumer-centric moves like the introduction of new plans for its subscribers, new benefits, freebies and more. The telco has also revised quite a few plans and introduced and revised some offers as well.

BSNL Offers for Broadband Customers

BSNL has also recently re-introduced a 5GB broadband trial offer for its landline customers providing them 5GB per day broadband plans until July 31, 2019. Also, the telecom operator is shipping a cashback offer on its long term broadband plans which includes a 15% cashback on broadband plans of monthly rental below Rs 499. Further, there will be a 20% cashback on broadband plans priced between Rs 499 and Rs 900. And, the subscribers with broadband plans of Rs 900 and above will enjoy a cashback of 25%. And if a customer chooses the plans in the price range mentioned above, BSNL will be offering them one-year of Amazon Prime membership for free. These are some of the more consumer centric moves that BSNL has introduced in the past and is running currently for the subscribers.
