BSNL

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has taken Reliance Jio’s throne when it comes to adding wireline broadband subscribers in the month of July 2021. For the unaware, as per the monthly data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for June 2021, Reliance Jio had added the most number of wireline broadband subscribers in India. But in the month of July 2021, Jio’s throne was overtaken by BSNL, which is a very positive sign for the telco. BSNL’s Bharat Fibre service is one of the best in India and offers users broadband plans at a very competitive price.

BSNL Added 0.50 Million Wireline Broadband Subscribers

BSNL added 5,06,674 subscribers (0.50 million) in the month of July 2021. The second position was taken by Jio, which added 2,59,975 subscribers (0.25 million) in the same month. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea added 1,25,640 (0.12 million) and 11,340 (0.011 million) subscribers in July 2021.

Note that we are talking about the wireline broadband subscribers and not the wireless subscribers. This is a positive sign for BSNL since it is showing its market standing in India when it comes to offering broadband services.

Even though BSNL doesn’t offer the most amount of over-the-top (OTT) benefits and other additional benefits, the fact that it has added the most number of wireline subscribers in the month of July 2021 is a great sign.

BSNL’s Bharat Fibre plans start at a monthly price of Rs 449 and offer speeds up to 30 Mbps. The internet service provider (ISP) offers plans with up to 300 Mbps internet speeds that also come with a free over-the-top (OTT) subscription of Disney+ Hotstar Premium. In comparison to July 2021, BSNL had lost 1,93,177 (0.19 million) subscribers in the month of June 2021. So this is a great comeback from BSNL, and the telco would certainly want the momentum to be its way only. It is interesting to see BSNL overtaking Jio so comfortably.
