BSNL, MTNL request deadline extension for rolling out full MNP

Rolling out full MNP across India is once again under jeopardy as telecom operators BSNL and MTNL have raised a request with Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to extend the deadline for roll-out. 4 July 2015 is the proposed deadline given to operators to complete the technicalities required for full MNP.

National Telecom Policy Approved: No Roaming Charges and Pan India MNP - One Nation - One Mobile Number

BSNL and MTNL have informed DoT that they cannot complete the technical changes in national numbering plan (NNP) within the said date and hence, would require an extension. Meanwhile, private telecom operators have not raised any difficulty in meeting the deadline.

Full MNP in the country has been getting delayed for a while now. May 3 was the initial deadline provided, which was extended due to the request from Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).
