Bharti Airtel has made yet another major move as the telco has now increased the price of its Rs 99 prepaid plan to Rs 119. In the past, Airtel offered 2GB of data along with unlimited voice calling to its users with a Rs 99 plan, but it’s no more offering the benefits with the said plan because of the all-new Rs 119 prepaid plan. Essentially, Airtel has increased the price of Rs 99 prepaid plan by Rs 20, and now, offering the same benefits with the Rs 119 plan. Having said that, this is also a segmented offer from the company and the benefits vary with every user. For example, if you use your Airtel prepaid connection as a secondary SIM card or a temporary one, then you’ll get the best benefits.
Airtel Rs 119 Prepaid Recharge: Benefits and Details
First of all, do make a note that the Rs 119 prepaid recharge has been introduced as a segmented tariff plan in all the 22 telecom circles. According to the information we have, Airtel is offering two types of benefits- for some users- the Rs 119 prepaid recharge offers 2GB of 4G/3G/2G data, unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit and 300 SMSes for a period of 28 days. And for some users, the same plan provides 1GB of 4G/3G/2G data along with unlimited local, STD and national roaming calls, and 300 SMSes for 14 days.
Basically, the validity and the data benefit differs from every user. Very minimum amount of Airtel prepaid customers are getting this plan for 28 days, while the open market benefits are valid for 14 days. Users can recharge this new plan via My Airtel app or website. If they fall under the segmented offer, they’ll get the plan for 28 days, otherwise, they’ll have to settle down with 14 days validity.
What About the Rs 99 Prepaid Recharge Then?
Having said that, Airtel did not remove the Rs 99 prepaid plan, but it did remove all the segmented offers applicable with the plan. Earlier, the Rs 99 plan offered similar benefits as the newly introduced Rs 119 plan- for 28 days and for 14 days. But now, it provides 1GB of data, unlimited voice calling and 300 text messages for ten days. And every user will get the benefits for ten days itself, meaning it has been converted as an open market plan with no segmented offers.
Airtel Removes Rs 129 Prepaid Recharge
If you recall, we have reported a Rs 129 prepaid recharge plan of Airtel back in April. The telco has now removed the plan from its portfolio. Airtel’s Rs 129 plan offered unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit, 100 SMS per day and 1GB of data for 28 days. The difference between the Rs 119 and Rs 129 plan is the SMS benefit as the latter offered 100 SMS per day, making for 2800 SMSes for the entire validity period.
Airtel Rs 119 Prepaid Recharge Vs Jio Rs 99 Prepaid Plan
Airtel’s Rs 99 prepaid plan was introduced to take on Jio’s Rs 98 prepaid recharge. And the same continues with the Rs 119 plan, but the price has now been increased by Rs 20, which gives a clear advantage to Jio. More importantly, Airtel’s plan is a segmented one unlike Jio’s which is an open market plan. For the unaware, Jio is giving unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit, 2GB of 4G data and 300 SMSes valid for 28 days from the date of recharge.
