Bharti Airtel has made a change to its open market prepaid recharge of Rs 199 after a long time. The Rs 199 prepaid recharge from Airtel which used to offer 1.4GB data per day for 28 days is now providing 1.5GB data per day for the same validity period. This essentially means that Airtel is offering 2.8GB more data than earlier with the Rs 199 plan. That said, Airtel’s offering is still way lower than Jio’s offering as the new entrant is shipping 2GB data per day with the Rs 198 prepaid plan. Overall, Airtel’s Rs 199 prepaid plan now comes with 42GB of 4G data, whereas Jio is already shipping 56GB of 4G data with its Rs 198 plan. Vodafone Idea is also expected to make the same change to its Rs 199 prepaid recharge very soon.
Airtel Rs 199 Prepaid Recharge: What Does it Offer?
Talking in detail about Airtel’s Rs 199 prepaid plan, it’s an open market plan available to every Airtel prepaid user in all the 22 telecom circles of India. Making changes to open market plan isn’t something we have seen from Airtel in the past, but with the competition heating up, the telco is forced to do. To recall, Airtel introduced the Rs 199 prepaid plan earlier this year when Jio came up with its 1.5GB daily and 2GB daily data plans. While Jio gave a masterstroke to Airtel by shipping 2GB data per day, Airtel is now trying to catch up with Jio, but it’s still way behind.
The Rs 199 prepaid recharge from Bharti Airtel now comes with 1.5GB daily data (42GB for the entire validity period), unlimited local, STD and national roaming voice calls along with 100 SMS per day for 28 days.
Same as Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel is also providing unlimited voice calls without any daily or weekly FUP limit. On the other hand, Vodafone Idea is limiting the voice calls to 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week.
Airtel Rs 199 Prepaid Plan Vs. Jio Rs 198 Prepaid Plan
As noted, Reliance Jio has a lineup of plans offering 2GB daily data limit and the Rs 198 recharge is a part of them. Jio is providing 2GB data per day, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. The data benefit becomes 56GB for 28 days which is 14GB better than what Airtel is providing, so clearly Jio is still ahead of Airtel.
Earlier, the Rs 199 prepaid plan from Airtel offered 1.4GB data per day and the overall data benefit was 39.2GB, but now, it has been upped by 2.8GB to a respectable 42GB.
Other Airtel Prepaid Plans With 1.5GB Daily Data Benefit
It seems like Airtel is created a new lineup with 1.5GB daily data benefit. To recall, the telco already introduced a prepaid plan of Rs 398 which is an open market one and ships 1.5GB data per day for 70 days. Now it has revamped the Rs 199 plan. Other Airtel plans such as Rs 209, Rs 399, Rs 448 and Rs 509 still shipping 1.4GB daily data itself. It will be interesting to see if Airtel revises these plans as well in the near future.
