Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are in the midst of the tariff war, trying their best to pull subscribers with their promotional prepaid recharge packs offering more maximum benefits at minimum prices. Airtel has now revised its existing Rs 149 prepaid recharge plan that once again seeks to offset the gains made by Jio. The plan is currently available for select users in a few circles. We have checked this plan's availability in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana circle, and it's available for two of Airtel prepaid numbers.
Airtel Rs 149 Prepaid Recharge Pack
Airtel’s revised Rs 149 plan is the cheapest plan with unlimited call benefits. Airtel promises unlimited local and STD calls along with outgoing roaming for a validity period of 28 days. The pack also includes 100 SMS per day. However, the pack bundles a mere 1GB of data for the whole validity period.
Airtel’s Rs 149 recharge plan, however, is currently segmented offer and not open for all. This means the plan is applicable in certain Airtel circles for now. Earlier, Airtel used to offer unlimited Airtel to Airtel voice calls and 1GB 4G data for 28 days, but now the plan is revised to offer calls to any network even on roaming and 1GB 3G/4G data, along with 100 SMS per day for the same validity period.
Interestingly, Airtel has a Rs 179 tariff plan which offers similar benefits. So, the company may be in the process of killing the Rs 179 plan or maybe the Rs 149 plan is a limited period offer.
Reliance Jio's Rs 149 Plan
On the other hand, Reliance Jio continues to trump the market with its ultra-affordable and highly beneficial plans. Jio’s Rs 149 recharge pack which earlier offered a total 4.2GB total data with 0.15GB daily FUP limit has been upgraded to offer users with 28GB of data. The new offer comes with 1GB 4G data per day for a period of 28 days.
Moreover, following exhaustion of daily data limit, Jio doesn’t stop your internet, but data speed gets reduced to 64kbps. Unlimited local, STD and roaming calls are also part of the bundle. There’s provision of 100 SMSes per day. Subscribers will also get access to a host of Jio apps with this plan.
Despite Airtel’s best efforts, Jio clearly seems to lead, offering far more data benefits at the same price point. Bharti instead has another plan for those looking for 1GB daily data with unlimited calls combo. Airtel Rs 199 plan matches that of Reliance Jio Rs 149 plan. Hopefully, Airtel changes the 1GB data to 1GB data per day with the Rs 149 plan.
