Bharti Airtel, India's second-largest telecom operator, has received a major relief. The telco's GST demand has been reduced to Rs 194 crore from Rs 604 crore. The amount was reduced by the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Apellate Authority after the telco challenged the original amount. The GST department was seeking Rs 604 crore from Airtel under the reverse charge mechanism on the license fee and spectrum usage charges on the demand note issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
