In the last few weeks, Bharti Airtel has been aggressively launching new tariff plans every now and then and it continues with the Rs 159 prepaid recharge. Airtel has launched a new plan for prepaid users with 21 days validity and unlimited calling benefit. Notably, this plan offers data and text messages benefit too. Airtel introduced this plan an open market one and to take on Vodafone's similarly priced prepaid recharge of Rs 159. But this plan from Airtel doesn't offer benefits as good as Vodafone's prepaid plan and to increase the woes, Airtel introduced this plan as a segmented tariff plan only valid in select circles and that too for select users.
Bharti Airtel Rs 159 Prepaid Recharge: Benefits and Validity
Diving into the details of the Rs 159 recharge plan from Airtel, it offers a user 1GB of 4G/3G/2G data along with unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for a period of 21 days. Having said that, the data benefit with this plan differs slightly with users as some Airtel prepaid users are getting 1GB data per day. But the validity of the plan is the same as 21 days for every user.
As the difference in data benefit itself states, Airtel launched the Rs 159 prepaid recharge as a segmented offer. However, do make a note it's applicable to every user, but the data benefit differs with every user. For example, if you're using your Airtel number as a temporary one, Airtel will give the plan with 1GB daily data, and if you're using your Airtel number as a primary one, then the data benefit is 1GB for the entire 21 days. Airtel is doing the same with its Rs 149 recharge- offer higher data for some users and limited for most.
Bharti Airtel Rs 159 Recharge vs Airtel Rs 168 Prepaid Plan
Very recently, Airtel introduced a Rs 168 prepaid plan taking on Vodafone's Rs 159 plan. With the Rs 168 plan, Airtel offered 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls without any FUP and 100 SMS per day for a period of 28 days. But this new Rs 159 prepaid recharge gives benefits for 21 days and limits the data benefit to 1GB, which is underwhelming. In every aspect, the Rs 168 recharge is a way better option than the newly launched Rs 159 recharge plan.
How Does it Compare With Vodafone's Rs 159 Prepaid Plan?
Now the biggest question is: Did Airtel beat Vodafone with this new tariff plan? The answer is No. Vodafone is offering 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 text messages every day with its Rs 159 prepaid plan, and the validity of the plan is 28 days. On the other hand, Airtel's plan is valid for 21 days and the data benefit is way lesser than Vodafone's plan. Do make a note that Vodafone is giving the same plan as an open market.
Is this Plan Aimed at Voice Calling Users?
Like Reliance Jio, Airtel is also not limited voice calling to its users. Jio, with the help of its nation-wide VoLTE coverage, offers unlimited voice calls with every prepaid plan; Even the Rs 98 plan comes with unlimited voice calling benefit. Airtel also removed voice calling limit on its network and all the prepaid plans now come with unlimited voice calling benefit.
On the other hand, Vodafone Idea is limiting the voice calls to 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week.
