Whenever it has been about buying a budget and entry-level smartphone, Xiaomi has been the answer for every Indian buyer for quite some years now. With phones like Redmi Note 5, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A, the Chinese company has boasted of giving some high-end specifications in its phones at a very cheap price tag. The Redmi 5A which is available for buyers at Rs 5,999 has been the obvious choice for the first time smartphone buyers who do not want to spend a lot on their new phone. However, now it seems that Xiaomi might have some competition in its store for the Redmi 5A. Infinix has launched the Inifinix Smart 2, a smartphone which comes with the same price tag of Rs 5,999 but packs better specifications. Below is a detailed comparison between these two smartphones.

Design and Display

It is a no-brainer that the Redmi 5A has a better design as compared to the Infinix Smart 2. However, when the screen sizes of these two phones are compared then the Infinix Smart 2 fares better than the Xiaomi device than the Redmi 5A. Where the Redmi 5A features a 5-inch HD IPS LCD with a 720x1280 pixels resolution. The Infinix Smart 2, on the other hand, sports a 5.45-inch HD+ LCD with 720 x1440p resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio which maxes an 83% screen-to-body ratio.

Performance

Both the phones are dual SIM devices and support both 4G LTE and VoLTE. In terms of hardware, the Redmi 5A comes powered by the 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor accompanied with Adreno 308 GPU. Whereas, the Infinix Smart 2, on the other hand, packs the quad-core MediaTek MT6739 chipset clocked at 1.5GHz. The RAM on the Redmi 5A is either 2GB or 3GB depending on the storage, with the former coming with 16GB internal storage and the latter with 32GB internal storage. There is also the option of memory expansion using microSD card for up to 128GB. Similar to the Redmi 5A, the Inifnix Smart 2 comes in two choices of 2GB+16GB and 3GB+32GB storage, and this one is also expandable up to 128GB using microSD card.

On the software front, the Infinix Smart 2 doesn’t fail to impress the buyers since it comes with Android 8.1 Oreo with the XOS 3.3.0 skin on top. The Redmi 5A lags a bit in this regard since it still runs on the dated Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9. Another advantage for the Smart 2 is the Dual 4G support, which we haven't seen on many entry-level devices.

Camera and Imaging

Both the phones come with a single camera on the rear. The Infinix Smart 2 comes with a 13MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, and the Redmi 5A also sports a 13MP sensor but with a f/2.2 aperture.
