Vodafone today announced the deployment of India's largest long-haul fibre network across 88 cities. Vodafone India has confirmed the installation of more than 43,000 kms of 200GB long-haul network in 75 days, making it the world's fastest and biggest optical deployment project. Vodafone states the growth in data consumption and adoption of new technologies like 5G and VoLTE, the deployment of 200G Long-Haul network will enable Vodafone to further improve on its already leading latency performance and enhance customer experience for mobile and enterprise customers.
Speaking about the launch of India’s largest 200G long-haul network, Vishant Vora, Director-Technology, Vodafone India, said, “Consumers and businesses are increasingly demanding flexible, secure and efficient ways to consume data. Vodafone's 200G long-haul network deployment brings differentiating capabilities to customers like- OVPN, which is the Horizontal and Vertical Network resource slicing for customers; Latency Based Routing which ensures low latency paths; Fibre Doctor, which is an online fibre monitoring tool to detect the fault and improve fibre repair MTTR. Lastly, the deployment also enables T-SDN Enabled Network for the centralised controller, resource and service visualisation.
Vodafone currently has 4G services in more than 15 circles across the country and the telco is working with various network gear makers to enhance the user experience. Right now, the telco has over 223 million subscribers in the country, as per the data available as of March 31, 2018.
