The OnePlus 6 launch is just around the corner, and the company continues to ramp up teasers for one of the year’s most anticipated phone releases. This time around the Chinese manufacturer maker pitches the OnePlus 6 against the phones considered the best in camera performance in the premium phone segment. In a Twitter post on Friday, OnePlus challenged users to match four photos of the same scene to their respective devices, the options being Samsung’s Galaxy S9, Apple’s iPhone X, Google’s Pixel 2, and, of course, company’s own OnePlus 6.
OnePlus India has launched a similar ‘Blind Test’ on the company's official website, Oneplus.in. Under this test, the OnePlus team has uploaded camera samples shot by the same flagship cameras. The photo samples are divided into four categories: architecture, low-light, low-light portrait, and portrait.
The company is asking its fans to take the blind test and vote for the best shots. The participants who take part stand a chance of winning the OnePlus 6 and other exciting OnePlus goodies. The company is asking users to share the test link with friends, and top three people on the leaderboard for referring friends will end up getting a free OnePlus 6.
All three of the competitors - the Galaxy S9, the iPhone X and the Pixel 2 -- are without a doubt among the phones with top quality camera performance. Historically, OnePlus has offered smartphones with decent cameras, though their performance is below par from other high-end devices. So it appears that OnePlus is set to change this and hopefully, they'll change that.
It is expected that the OnePlus 6 will come with an improved camera compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus 5T. The upcoming device is expected to feature a 20MP primary sensor that will boast a f/1.7 aperture. This will be accompanied by a secondary 16MP sensor as part of the dual camera module.
Aside from that, the OnePlus 6 will be sporting a 6.28-inch Super AMOLED notched display and pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 inside along with a choice for 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Furthermore, while the former will be available with 6GB or 128GB storage, the latter will ship with whopping 256GB storage. The phone will be running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
The OnePlus 6 will make its official debut on May 16 at a launch event in London, the company has confirmed. It will be followed by launches in home market China and India.
