All the telecom operators in the country are stopping nowhere for the sake of claiming more and more subscriber base and to charm the customers with attractive offers day by day. Reliance Jio with its pricing first took the market by storm and rest all the incumbent operators like BSNL, Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India have followed Jio to this race. Rs 499 plan from BSNL
BSNL is slowly starting to follow other telcos by launching unlimited data and voice plans. This new Rs 499 plan is a part of that new offering, subscribers get 45GB data per month in this plan. Along with that, there is also the facility of unlimited Local and STD calling which is not capped by minutes or FUP and also includes roaming. However, unlike Airtel, BSNL does not provide data carryover functionality. There are also no SMS benefits per month provided to the subscribers.
Rs 499 Nirvana Postpaid Plan by Idea Cellular
Idea Cellular is also not far behind in the race for the biggest telco. This postpaid plan of Rs 499 offers unlimited local and STD calling for the users, besides including national roaming. The plan also offers a massive amount of 3000 SMSes per month. Very similar to the Airtel Infinity plan, this one also offers 40GB with data carryover facility which is capped at 200GB for the next month. There are also some added benefits with this plan which include free premium access to Idea Music, Idea Movies & TV, and games for 12 months. Users can also avail a free subscription of up to five premium magazines.
Rs 499 Vodafone RED Postpaid Plan
Not running far behind is the second largest telecom operator in the country, Vodafone India with 222 million subscribers – the telco has also launched a Rs 499 postpaid plan which offers unlimited local and STD calling and includes free national roaming. For the data, the plan offers 40GB per month along with data carryover facility of 200GB, much like the Airtel and Idea plan. Additionally, users also get the benefit of Vodafone Play app, which lets you watch movies and TV shows for a year. The plan also offers five free magazines every month, and it is combined with a free handset damage protection plan for four months.
Rs 509 Plan from Reliance Jio
Compared to rest of the telcos, Reliance Jio goes a step further in providing more to the customers in terms of data and service. The Rs 509 plan offers the users 60GB data per month which translates to 2GB FUP per day. There is also the facility of unlimited local and STD calling with no roaming costs, like in the other plans. There is also the added benefit of access to Jio’s premium suite of apps like JioMusic, JioTV etc.
Verdict
It is apparent that the Reliance Jio plan of Rs 509 offers the most value for money when it comes to data and calling facility. However, given that Jio does not yet offer the data carryover facility which telcos like Idea and Airtel are doing, puts it at a slightly disadvantaged spot. Still, with almost every telco rolling out unlimited calling and 4G Plans, it is not necessary that users port their numbers to Reliance Jio to benefit from the offers.
