Lenovo is all geared up to launch a new smartphone in China on March 20. The company's newly appointed VP Chang Cheng is teasing a new smartphone on the microblogging platform Weibo, namely, the Lenovo S5. As per the teasers posted by Cheng, the Lenovo S5 will have a massive 6000mAh battery inside, but it will sport a slim body. The device will be firstly unveiled in China, later on, it might make its way to the Indian market. Chang Cheng has been posting about the Lenovo S5 smartphone for quite some time and in multiple images, he confirmed that the phone would come with a glass back and will run ZUI out of the box.

Another teaser confirmed that the Lenovo S5 would feature a dedicated hardware security chip, of which details are unknown at the moment. But the highlight aspect of the smartphone will be the massive 6000mAh battery inside. Lenovo, in the past, has released a lot of smartphones with massive batteries and at the same time maintained the slim profile. For example, we have the Lenovo P2 smartphone released last year, which packed a massive 5100mAh battery but was a usable smartphone with one hand.

And the same will continue with the Lenovo S5 as well. Also, there's no Vibe branding in any of the teasers posted by Lenovo or Chang Cheng, hinting at the possible scrapping of Vibe branding. Lenovo already stopped releasing smartphones under Vibe branding in India, but with the Lenovo S5, they will be doing the same in China as well.

The Lenovo S5 will succeed the Lenovo Vibe S1 smartphone released back in 2015. Back then, the Vibe S1 was amongst the few devices with dual selfie cameras. It offered gorgeous design and compact form factor. But Lenovo focused on aesthetics with the Vibe S1, however, with the Lenovo S5, they're going with offering massive battery, which the company has done with the Lenovo P series.

Lenovo hasn't been at its best in the Indian market nor Chinese market, which is primarily because of the Motorola branding. However, the company is releasing at least one smartphone every quarter, and in this quarter, it would be the Lenovo S5. There's no info on when the smartphone is coming to the Indian market.
