BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has announced its partnership with mobile handset maker Detel to offer tariff-bundled feature phones. As a first device from the collaboration, both the companies announced an affordable feature phone in the form of Detel D1. The Detel D1 is originally priced at Rs 346, and along with BSNL's bundled tariff plan, the device will be made available at Rs 499.

BSNL Detel D1 Feature Phone

This feature phone was announced by Manoj Sinha in Jaipur. The Detel D1 is a proper feature phone, and BSNL's tariff plan doesn't offer any mobile data. The BSNL tariff plan's price is Rs 153. Together with Detel D1's price of Rs 346 and BSNL tariff plan's price of Rs 153, the Detel D1 along with BSNL offer would be made available at Rs 499.

The BSNL Rs 153 tariff plan designed for Detel D1 offers Rs 153 talk time in your main account. It also offers BSNL to BSNL voice calls at 15 paise/min and BSNL to other voice calls at 40 paise/min. These talk time and voice calling benefits are valid for 365 days. On top of these benefits, this plan offers Personal Ring Back Tone free for 28 days.

In a press statement, BSNL said that the Detel D1 would surely go a long way in providing mobile phone and mobile services to the remote rural population at a very economical rate and will help in increasing rural teledensity. BSNL is touting this initiative as 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas,' from our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Talking about the Detel D1 feature phone, it sports a 1.44-inch monochrome display and works on GSM 2G network. Sadly, the D1 comes with just single SIM support. It is backed by a 650mAh battery and comes with a torchlight. Thankfully, it comes with a Phone Book and loudspeaker as well.

In the past, BSNL partnered with Micromax and launched a Bharat 1 feature phone with a monthly rental pack of Rs 97. With the Detel D1, BSNL is not going against the Reliance JioPhone, but it's aimed at basic users looking for a just a voice calling handset.
