An In-Depth Look at Airtel International Roaming Plans

Bharti Airtel has introduced very competitive international roaming packs for its customers who are planning to travel abroad. The company’s international roaming plans cover over 100 countries, including popular tourist destinations like the UAE, U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and more.

Airtel has segmented countries into four groups. That said, if you purchase a plan for a specific group, then you can also use the same pack in other countries in the group. Most European nations come under a single group, and this means a single plan will work if you are planning to visit several destinations in the region. Here is a breakdown of the Airtel’s International Roaming Plans within the four groups:

Group A (Australia, Thailand, Singapore)

The Group A has most affordable roaming tariffs, which you get to use in a total of six countries. You get unlimited incoming calls and 100 free SMSes along with each plan. The Group A countries include: Australia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand

  • Rs 492
    The 492 plan comes with 100 minutes of talk time for both local calls within that country and that to India. Also bundled along is 500MB of internet data. However, this plan is valid for a single day.
  • Rs 1199
    The next plan comes with a validity of ten days and 250 free minutes to India and within that country. There is 3GB of data available with the pack.
  • Rs 2499
    Airtel has a 30-long day plan for those staying longer. Priced for Rs 2499, the plan comes with 500 minutes of cumulative talks and 5GB of data.

Group B (US, Canada & UK)

Group B covers more than 50 countries, including the U.S, Canada, China, United Kingdom and most European nations. If you are planning to visit any of these countries, you can use a single plan.

Group B countries are: Albania, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jersey, South Korea, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

  • Rs 649
    The one-day plan for these countries offers 100 minutes and 500MB of data for Rs 649. You also get free incoming and 100 SMS.
  • Rs 2999
    The second plan offers 3GB data and 250 calling minutes and will set you back Rs 2999. It comes with a validity of 10 days. As always there are free incoming calls and 100 SMSes.
  • Rs 3998
    Airtel’s one-month-long plan comes with 500 minutes and 5GB of data. You get free unlimited incoming calls as well 100 free texts.

Group C (UAE, Russia, Japan)

Group C covers eight territories, including Russia, UAE, Brazil, Japan, Jordan, Nepal, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Having said that, the tariff plans are similar to the ones in Group B, minus the unlimited incoming voice calls option. The plans offer same one day, ten days and 1-month validity.

  • Rs 649 - 100Mins Incoming + 100Mins Outgoing + 500MB data + 100 SMS
  • Rs 2999 - 250Mins Incoming + 250Mins Outgoing + 3GB data + 100 SMS
  • Rs 3998 - 500Mins Incoming + 500Mins Outgoing + 5GB data + 100 SMS

Group D (Argentina, South Africa)

Group D features most of the South American and African countries including Afghanistan, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bhutan, Cambodia, Chad, Chile, Colombia, Congo, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Fiji, Gabon, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Moldova, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Uruguay, Vanuatu and Zambia

There are three packs on offer, but they're priced very steeply when compared to the other three groups. 100 SMS per day are standard on all packs.

  • Rs 995
    The one day plan offers 100 minutes outgoing calls to India and within the country, 100 minutes incoming calls, as well 500MB data.
  • Rs 3995
    The 10-day plan with 250 incoming minutes, 250 minutes outgoing and 3GB data will cost you Rs 3995.
  • Rs 6999
    The month-long plan with 5GB data, 500 minutes each of incoming and outgoing will set you back Rs 6999.
