The Honor View 10 is the global variant of the Honor V10 smartphone, which was introduced a couple of weeks ago in China. The View 10 brings many features including the trendy bezel-less 18:9 display as well dual rear camera setup for a price that puts it directly against the OnePlus 5T. Honor has priced the device aggressively at a global price of Euro 499, which equals to Rs 37,000. However, the phone is expected to cost less than the global price in India, like the Honor 8 Pro.

Here's how the Honor 10 View outsmarts the OnePlus 5T in the affordable flagship smartphone category.

Hardware

Dubbed as “your first AI phone”, the Honor View 10 features an AI-focused co-processor called the neural processing unit or NPU, in addition to Huawei’s own Kirin 970 system-on-chip. The AI phone allows for apparent improvements to image recognition and faster language translation. Despite its mid-range price, you’re getting a lot of more powerful hardware than OnePlus 5T. However, when it comes to processing speed, the Snapdragon 835 SoC on the OnePlus 5T will be the winner any day.

In addition, the Honor View 10 comes with impressive battery, wherein it can defeat the OnePlus 5T. With SuperCharge feature, the phone will go from zero to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. The 3750mAh battery is good for 22 days on standby and 23 hours of continuous talk according to Huawei.

Another notably powerful feature is the dual SIM support for LTE connectivity at once. The slot doubles as a hybrid microSD card slot, should you wish to expand on the already generous 128 GB storage. Unlike, OnePlus 5T which runs Nougat, Honor 10 View will land with Oreo on board, coated by Huawei's latest EMUI 8.0. However, by the time it launches in India, OnePlus may roll out the Android Oreo update to the 5T.

AI & Camera

The View 10 much like the OnePlus 5T pack's dual rear camera setup. The Honor View 10 camera, however, stands a chance of outperforming the 5T, thanks to its AI capabilities. The dual setup along with AI scene detection allows the phone to capture impressive detail and dynamic range. With motion detection, the phone reduces adjust camera settings to reduce blur of moving subjects.

The AI also gives the cameras impressive low light performance. The cameras have the capability to detect objects, and can even adjust the settings automatically to show the objects better in low-light conditions.

Honor’s AI-based features are also incorporated in the front camera. The 13MP front sensor can simulate backgrounds for your selfies, replacing the indoor background with exotic sceneries. And there is gender detection for portraits that let the device enable different beauty enhancements for men and women.

In addition, the V10’s front sensor combined with AI features a Facial Unlock technology, like the Oppo F5. And yes, the Facial Recognition feature also supports payment-level authentication. It also comes with intelligent display rotation which means your phone changes rotation is according to the way you view it. For example, if you are viewing the phone in bed, it wouldn’t automatically change the orientation to landscape.

The View 10 also has what's called a “3D Facial Animation” feature, which works exactly like Apple's Animoji. This feature tracks your face and transposes that onto an animal character or an object. This renders a short GIF mimicking the facial movements of the user, which can be sent as a message.

Other AI based features include intelligent scene and object recognition as well AI-accelerated translator which allows 300 percent faster translation of the written text.

The Honor View 10 seems to be a complete package on paper, and it Honor manages to price the smartphone below Rs 30,000 in India, it will surely kill the OnePlus 5T.
