Swipe Launches Elite VR, India’s Most Affordable Virtual Reality Smartphone, and Konnect Star 2017 With Indus OS

Swipe, the Indian smartphone brand has launched a new smartphone in the country, namely, the Swipe Elite VR. At the recently concluded 5th Anniversary gathering of Swipe, founder & CEO Mr Shripal Gandhi made the big announcement of Swipe 2.0. According to Shirpal, Swipe is synonymous with Vision 2022 where in Swipe will metamorphose from being a mobile gadgets company to a 21st Century personal electronics company.

And at today's launch, the brand revealed that they're kicking of Swipe 2.0 with the launch of Swipe Elite VR handset. As seen with some of the earlier launched Swipe smartphones, the Elite VR will also be sold exclusively via Shopclues.

The Swipe Elite VR comes with a 5.5-inch HD IPS display. As the name itself suggests, the smartphone comes with support for virtual reality. The device is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 chipset, paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

The device is backed by a 3000mAh battery and comes laden with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It has a 13MP rear camera and 5MP selfie camera and comes with SwiftKey Keyboard as its default keyboard option.

"Swipe ELITE VR is a unique VR device that unleashes the aura of magical world by opening a mystical portal every time you use the phone. Great specs and design for all-round Entertainment at an astounding price of Rs. 4,499," said the company in a press statement.

Besides the Swipe Elite VR, the company also launched Swipe Konnect Star 2017 aimed to bridge the language barriers. The Konnect Star 2017 is a successor to Konnect Star 2016.

The Konnect Star 2017 is priced at Rs. 3,333 and comes with a 1 GHz quad-core processor offering support for VoLTE and 4G LTE. The 4-inch dual SIM device is powered with 1GB RAM and 16 GB ROM and runs on Marshmallow 6.0. Swipe Konnect Star 2017 will connect Indians to the world by bridging language barriers through Indus OS with 12 regional languages which cover 90% of the population and has translation and transliteration feature for easy communication.
