The latest revelation of Android distribution numbers by Google marks the rise of Lollipop. It was last month that the distribution chart had only 5 percent devices running on Lollipop, but this month’s chart has shown double growth (10 percent) in the area. All this means that Lollipop is gradually appearing on more and more devices.

Android distributionAs per the latest figures, Android 5.0 Lollipop is presently running on nine percent of all Android devices, and the latest 5.1 version has increased its share from 0.7 percent to reach 1.1 percent. To remind, in the last month report, Android 5.0 had only five percent share, while the 5.1 version succumbed at just 0.4 percent.

Lollipop’s growth can be marked on the expense of Android 4.4 KitKat, which is now witnessing a fall, from 41.4 percent to 39.8 percent. However, regardless of being out of the scene, Jelly Bean is still hogging 40 percent share of all the Android devices (that’s just dismal).

Although there is a rise in Lollipop’s installation base, but when we compare it to iOS, the condition seems mediocre as iOS 8 now runs on 81 percent of iOS device. Despite all the bugs and storage issues, iOS seems to have an upper hand over Android when it comes to updating devices.
