The successor to the last year's Motorola Moto X has been officially announced during Motorola's event at the IFA 2014. Motorola hasn't changed the name of their flagship smartphone and it is still being called as the Motorola Moto X. It comes with a larger 5.2-inch AMOLED screen which is also sharper, thanks to a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device now features an aluminium frame around it for an even richer in-hand feel and sturdiness. The device will be available in plastic, wooden and leather trims.

The device is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. Motorola has decided to skip the microSD card slot yet again. There's a 13MP primary camera at the back with autofocus and a unique dual-LED ring flash. The camera can now record 4K videos, thanks to a faster processor. Looks like Motorola hasn't focussed much on the 'selfie' craze as there's a 2MP front-facing secondary camera on the new Moto X.

The device comes pre-loaded with Android 4.4 KitKat but Motorola has confirmed that it will be updated to Android L as soon as Google releases it to the public. New software features include improved voice commands, gesture controls and improved notifications display system while the device is locked.
