DoT to Launch Pan India Consumer Grievance Helpline 1037 for Mobile and Telecom Consumers

According to our exclusive sources Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is all set to launch telecom consumers grievance redressal Pan- India helpline with single unified number 1037 soon.

After the launch of this helpline 1037, Telecom and Mobile Service consumer can register their complaint on 1037 number toll free if not satisfied with their excisiting operator, currently there are two tier complaint mechanism (198 Call Center and Appellate Authority) known as 'Two Tier Institutionalized Grievances Redressal Mechanism'.

With current "Telecom consumers grievance redressal rules" If consumer is not satisfied with the redressal of his complaint by the Complaint Centre (Such as 198 or 1500 etc), or his complaint remains un-addressed or no intimation of redressal of the complaint is received within the period specified as per rules, such consumer need to file an appeal to the Appellate Authority of the concerned service provider for redressal of his complaint and after that they can approach to DoT over this helpline number to resolve the issue.

Department of Telecommunications - DoT's new Helpline Number 1037 will be toll free or non metered service which will be accessible from any basic and mobile phones across India. DoT also confirmed that provision of access to this service would be mandatory for all telecom service providers, once officially launched for public.
