World’s Longest Phone Call Record Broken by Sunil Prabhakar of New Delhi

longest-phone-callMr Sunil Prabhakar has become the first Indian to create a World Record of “Longest Phone Conversation” by speaking non- stop for 51 hours. He has successfully broken the World record held by Tony Wright of UK, which was created in September 2007.

Sunil Prabhakar of Kailash Hills New Delhi broke the existing 40 hour record of “longest phone call”  held by Tony Wright by speaking continuously for more than 51 hours!

He (Sunil Prabhakar) called up from his house using a TATA INDICOM phone to Dr K. K. Agarwal, renowned Cardiologist and Head Cardiology, Moolchand Medcity, New Delhi. Dr Agarwal answered the call and initiated the conversation from “Vishal Mega Mart”, Mathura Road, New Delhi. The call started on 18 September 2009 at 7 AM, later many prominent people like Director, Delhi Institute of Tool Engineering, Delhi Govt. Dr V.P.Dutta and many other registered persons joined Mr Sunil Prabhakar in the conversation, which went beyond 41 hrs till early morning of 20th September 2009 at 10 AM – a total of 51 hours.

    >>No calls would last for an hour..
TATA INDICOM does not have a cap (limit) like AIRTEL, AIRCEL of 55-59 min
    >> first of all your hands will pain
No one is holding the phone for 51 hours my friend, it can be on a table!
    >> secondly your phone will become hot
It will become hot if charged excessively OR in a weak signal area only
    >> thirdly you may run out of battery
A Charger has been connected (obviously) which phone will give talktime of 51 hrs
    >> fourthly you won’t find topics for chatting
The CALL was for 51 hours – who said they CHATTED for 51 hours
    >> fifthly you might get exhausted for talking so long
BREAKS and food etc was allowed – it was a CALL and not a CONVERSATION of 51 hrs
    >> sixthly im tired typing.

ANUJ I have itemised call details of calls which have “Dropped” when > 55-59 minutes. This has been faced from a POSTPAID Number (hence no question of balance low) in KOLKATA (2007-2008) and now in ANDHRA PRADESH (2009 August) and while roaming in DELHI (2009 September).
    >>Buddy, there are no such anti-benefit practises by Airtel towards customers. You can confirm it from top level officials at Bharti.

I am sure that calls could have been dropped due to some other problems but there isn’t a cap limit by Airtel. I also have postpaid connection, M&G circle & old 10p/min calling friendz prepaid plan, Mumbai circle. At both these places I managed to talk non stop beyond 2 hours so many times.

  • Duane September 24, 2009 11:59 am

ANAGH I dont know where you are from but what I have shared is my personal experience in KOLKATA, HYDERABAD (AP) and DELHI circles (on roaming).
    >>i used airtel for talking non stop 3 hours and its line not getting disconnected
only aircel cutting the call after 55 mins

  • Anuj September 24, 2009 11:57 am

Ya its his working email address but you’ll hardly recieve reply from his side unless the issue is big enough to concern. Also I can give you email address of Mr. Manoj Kohali, MD, Bharti Airtel. Its manoj.kohali@bharti.com
Main thing is that both these email contacts are open to public & anyone can address these two peoples on seriously concerned issues.

ANUJ very few (1 of 1000) of my calls need to go beyond ONE HOUR … in such cases it takes me 5 seconds to press the last call & connect again. So, do not feel the need to mail Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal… thanks all the same! Is that really his address? Do let us know.

    >>Surprised by your statement that Airtel have cap limit of 50-59 limits…! lol..! If it has been, then we should have already thrown our connections in dustbin…!
My Advice: mail Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal about this issue (if you are really facing!) at sbm@bharti.com

AMNOL each operator has its own policies, in AIRTEL (for example) calls get disconnected anywhere between 55-59 minutes. This is done for fraud monitoring purposes, AND is informed to the customer as a “benefit” – If you (by mistake) connect the last dialled number it will get automatically disconnected! in TATA INDICOM there is no such limit.
    >>but hw is this possible tht call did nt gt disconnected fr sucha long period??? It has been experienced taht aftr 3hrs of duration call gets disconnected by default….
