Tata Docomo’s Latest T&C on 2G Packs – Tethering NOT Allowed

Tata Docomo revised their 2G data packs in the line of the recent revision done by Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. While the data packs with recent hike in tariff still can be adjustable, the terms and conditions bundled with the plans are not digestable for most of the mobile users. Some of these T&C turns to be Hebrew for me!

tata-docomo-wifi-hotspot

Here goes the further explanation of Tata Docomo’s 2G internet packs’

Terms & conditions:

2. All the above packs will be available to Tata DOCOMO subscribers on Tata DOCOMO Home and Tata DOCOMO roaming network only.

So even you are in home circle, but your mobile tops up other operator’s signal and your data connection is on, the data usage will be not be deducted from your active data pack.

3. The packs are applicable on DOCOMOINTERNET APN only.

Did Tata Docomo change its normal APN? I asked to them and waiting for their reply.

9. Additional PDP charges may apply with some operators. PDP is an association between the Visited and Home Data network and is used for validation of the Data subscriber. This appears in the bill as charges against 0 Kb usages, which are billable.

- Do you understand anything about it? I asked for the explanation for majority of the customers.

11. Data pool benefits will be applicable on Dive in browsing only.

- Who is using DiveIn these days? I think nobody. Basically most of the VAS like alert services or update services should be killed off as people can check them out easily over internet. I am almost sure that this T&C is actually not applicable, otherwise we got thousands of comments!

12. Using your Device as a modem for a personal computer or other piece of electronic equipment (tethering) is not permitted.

- Tethering is NOT allowed. I am curious to know how older is the Tata Docomo dude who made this doctrine! Are we living in 2000? And basically Tata Docomo can not understand this, if people are using WiFi Hotspot!

Well if you can remember Tata Docomo messed up earlier on their CDMA data plans, as we shared here. Let’s see what happens!

Tata docomo amused me first with the tethering speed-32kBPS constant and a 148rs 8gb plan.sadly found out truth that disconnection occurs every 40minuites.

port in from aircel, and i vow, aircel was the best, and i had to port as aircel stopped service in kerala.

I want to add some complaints.

1.auto activation of plans like rhyme school, comedy time, adult joke

    what the shit!
Had to spend around 5rs to get refund of 15rs-25rs,as the executives are pricks, and dont get me refunds.

2.absolute worst no1 customercare 90percent people dont know what they are speaking.
When i told abt disconection issue, answers were
    *off and on set sir
    *create custom profile sir
*remove sim for 5min and try sir
*wil transfer to senior and putting on hold and making cal autodiscnct aftr 10min

    3.once called customercare,can connect again after 1day.
    Holy shit!

Waiting to get my 90days over to port to bsnl

Major issue in Docomo is every 30 minutes the network will be disconnected automatically. So we can not download file above 30MB. Yesterday i tried to download AVG antivirus(120MB) but every 30 minutes connection disconnected and i cant download above 30MB of that file. I tried it through Download Manager (DAP) also but waste. Anybody know any tricks to download 100MB files in DOCOMO?

      @ Kingston,
1.Use IDM (internet download manager, you can download it from torrent using u torrent, IDM will help you to download the file not only quickly, but also it can start the download where from the point it was stopped,
Say after downloading 30 mb, the connection disconnects, after reconnecting IDM will start downloading from that 30 mb, so you can download it in 4 attempts.
      2. Download antivirus from torrent.
      3. Use Aircel, it disconnects after 1 hr or 2 hr, sometimes after 12 hr also.

for a long period of time,I used TATA DOCOMO(Pack 65/69-2.5GB,95-4GB) and VIRGIN MOBILE(Pack 201-12GB) for internet in my PC. But,now It is too pathetic to use it. It is too slow and too costly. And Now-a-days,I am looking that the automatic disconnection problem is in 30mins (prev.40mins). So,Buy buy TATA. you stay alone and Let your employees surf the GPRS from their own Mobile only.
I have recharged with BSNL Pack 301-8GB for 90days and it’s on 3G!! Yesterday I got the speed max 282KBpS!! I am from Kolkata.

No, they didn’t. I am seeing DOCOMOINTERNET APN written on their website for the last two years. I Still don’t know the reason why they don’t they simply write TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET

When I asked them about this tethering thing they told me this- “if you use want to use 2G internet pack using Dongle or by tethering on PC we won’t be able to assure you about the connectivity or speed.”

I am just fed up with TD.Its network is very pathetic, getting switch b/w 2G & 3G every now and then. And quality of both voice and data services is bad.
Just out of curiosity, how would TD (technologically)stop a user from sharing their Internet. And how would they penalize such users? Its not possible,i think.
Not to mention,I have stopped using TD.

    Tamilnadu:
Today i have recharged my docomo by 24rs. Due to valentine day i got 1400mb data for 7 days instead of 300mb. I can use my mobile as MODEM (tethering is still possible) and i can get download speed around 12KB/s at 6PM today. Better go for Reliance GSM for good internet because reliance giving same speed (12KB/s) but there is no fluctuation, pages are rendering smoothely and quickly.

Hey. I am also from TN. Reliance GSM coverage is WORST. It is only for the people who are resident in town or city and not the outskirts !!!. Try the speed of BSNL 2G.

      To everyone :

Get a BSNL SIM and activate one day GPRS pack during valentine’s day. Note the main balance before browsing. Connect and open in.yahoo.com page (without flash animations). Disconnect. Now check the balance. This is just to check whether data packs are valid in the blackout days.

Tethering is working in my Tamilnadu docomo SIM when inserted in Huawei E182E modem. The only thing is that you have to redial 3 or more times to get connected. Speed is between 15 to 25 KB/s (not kbps). I have checked my number’s main balance also. Not deducted anything.

I had SIM from all GSM operators before. All of them connected in the first attempt after proper driver installation of the data card. Only speed was worst. Now docomo’s speed has been improved.

        In Tamilnadu (2G) :
The speed of BSNL, docomo, vodafone (costly) [in laptop using data card] is acceptable – 15 to 25 KB/s. It takes 3 hours and 15 minutes to download 215 MB.

Because DOCOMO is So Worst Than Aircel in Terms of Coverage such that it is not recommendable.

There is just one solution, port out from the A-Vo-I-D group and port in to MTNL, BSNL, Reliance, Aircel, Uninor, Videocon. let their average revenue per user decline substantially, then they will have only one way to survive, which is reducing the tariffs and having user friendly T&C’s

Oh yeah Docomo! You are do better than this! I have some ideas that can top your crappy plans!

    1) Sell a GPRS for Rs. 98 for 1 GB and charge extra for people visiting facebook.

    2) Block youtube/viemo and video sharing sites. If people want to access those, charge Rs. 198 for the same 1 GB.

    3) Add a FUP note. For Rs. 98 1 GB plan, only 250MB is allowed at 2G speeds. Beyond FUP speeds will be reduced to 1 kilo bits / s.

    4) Automatically redirect HTTP requests to DoCoMo WAP site and when people download from WAP portal, charge Rs. 200 for a dummy mobile game.

    5) Last but not the least. Charge the customer extra during peak hours (morning 8 AM to 11 AM and 6 PM to 10 PM).

I’m fully agree with you brother. TRAI has to do something for such a type of shame but unfortunately TRAI is also shame for us. In USA and other foreign country’s, there are UL planes available and these are 3G and 4G and India is still on 1 GB for 2$. WTF !!
If development will go in such a way, it will do not take so much time to INCREDIBLE INDIA.

Only one answer to madness to docomo in last 1 year.

    Docomo has gone nuts!!!!!!!!!

The operator who lead to lowest tariff in India is now leading to highest tariff India ever seen.

Why would docomo officials think people will pay high tariff on Docomo’s no coverage network?

Even Bankrupted operators like Reliance and Aircel didn’t do anything stupid like this.
