After a long delay finally Maharashtra and Goa circle will get the next generation BSNL 3G Mobile and Data services from 11th June.
The Pan-India 3G operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is going to make its 3G debut in the Pune, Goa, and 55 other cities in Maharashtra and Goa telecom circle from June 11th.
Maharshtra’s cultural capital city of Pune will be the first city to witness the launch of the 3G mobile service by BSNL on 11th June while Panjim and Goa will get commercial 3G services from 24 June.
Apart from this BSNL will also enhance the services area to all the district headquarters of the Maharashtra and Goa circle along with 55 major cities by the end of July-2010.
We have exclusive details of Maharashtra-Goa 3G launching schedule with city names. The core 3G UMTS network for next generation 3G GSM mobile and HSPA Broadband services is live in test mode in Pune, Panjim, Ngapur, Aurangabad, Lonavala, Baramati, Beed, Nashik, Deolali, Karegaon, Shiradi, Kolhapur, Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi, Vasai, Ratnagiri, Osmanabad, Sangli, Jalgaon, Amravati, Akola, Dhule, Igatpuri, Satara, Nandurbar, Ichalkarnaji, Karad, Sawantvadi, Alibagh, Karjat, Khopoli, Mahad, Pen, Solapur, Pandharpur, Washim, Latur, Bhusawal, Hingoli, Jalna, Buldhana, Wardha, Yeotmal, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and some more cities in Maharashtra-Goa circle.
At present BSNL is the only service provider to procure the 3G spectrum to operate next generations 3G Mobile and Data services(3.5G HSPA Data Service) in the Maharashtra-Goa region.
The existing BSNL 2G prepaid mobile subscribers of Maharashtra and Goa telecom circle can migrate to BSNL 3G services just by one SMS “3G YES” to 53733 while Postpaid 2G subscriber need to send ACT 3G to 53733

Bsnl now started 3G services in Pune, Nashik, Raigad & Goa zone. Is anybody facing problem of incoming calls problem while in UMTS mode. Becoz many user here including me in Pune, Karjat zone are getting problem for incoming calls while in UMTS mode.. when someone give an call they get reply as Bsnl number you are calling is currently switch off while in UMTS mode. Even if range of 3G is full on mobile.. If we are already busy in accessing 3G internet then at at that time if someone calls then only we can get an voice incoming calls…. if in standby UMTS mode then get reply as switch off if someone calls..
So in standby, whether we should keep mobile again in GSM mode for receiving an incoming voice calls??

What ever but truth is that BSNL 3G data plans are not cheap. You have to wait to open new war zone again among the operatos for 3G data plans.

I am using 199 rs. unlimited plan
1) I saw on maharashtra.bsnl.in website that we need to pay 25 rs. extra after we activate 3g from the bsnl office
2) the plan is saying we need to pay 2499 for unlimited usage of 3g in the bsnl 3g plan tariff section
so this is total confusion
only option is to pay for whatever bill comes…. june’s bill was not having any data charges in it at all

I was afraid that i will be charged for the 3G on my 2G card so i have stopped using my BSNL card (since poor internet speed) and was using my aircel. Problem only from M/s Alcatel, Mh Goa BSNL team upto DGM level worked very hard to radiate & commissioned the all 3G equipped cellsites. Most of the SSA are awaiting for launch it, but due to Pune MSC they are unable to launch, BSNL 3G network is very strong in all the city, as info received from Goa subscribers BSNL 3G network is better than 2G so pl be patience,

Pls contact BSNL customer care centre immediately, as per the info you will not charged till launch of services but afer tht you will charged, so enjoy till launching date after tht do not use 3G net, u said tht 320kbps means you are getting very less speed, in 3G you will get 3.6mbps

Generally unlimited broadband plans are slower than 3g.
But 3g as of now is costly if u calculate on a per MB basis.

well, around 320 kilo bytes / second speed is available now on 3g
the amazing thing is that, we dont need to buy 3g sim for this… existing 2g sim can use 3g service
the problem i want to discuss is, i am postpaid 2g subscriber of plan 199-unlimited gprs, my N95 mobile connects to 3g service and gets me nice speeds…but will BSNL charge me extra for this?
i have checked the website… it says
** The unlimited GPRS plan with FMC of Rs.199 will not be applicable to 3G services. Unlimited GPRS usage
allowed under existing 2G plan 725 & 999 will be restricted to 100 MB/Month data usage under 3G services and for additional data usage beyond free usage Rs.0.01/10KB will be charged.

so the question is that they have not very clearly mentioned if they will charge for the 3g speed usage

Now, the 3G is working in my City. Although the speed are not completely awesome, they are just above the 2G speed. But i understand that the this the first day and still trails and errors have to be done before the official launch. Waiting eagerly for the 3G experience.

Dear they are working on 5Best GPRS plans, due to some technical problems they are unable to launch it, but now they solved tht problem & testing is in progress, wait for a month you will find best 5GPRS plans with talktime plans only from MH Goa circle.

BSNL should start per second billing in 3G also. In 3G offnet voice call is very costly. It should never be more than 50p/min.

You can use both 2G & 3G network irrespective of your plan. Only video calls and data speed etc will be restricted. You can search 3G network from 2G sims also with 3G supported phones. 3G network is very high tech. You can use both call & data services simultaneously. It connects with network very fast compare to 2G. When roaming or phone start, phone gets network very very fast.

As per our information Goans are eagerly awaited for this services, if Marketing team allow the best plans in 3G vdo & data surfing then youngster would be only with BSNL,Mrs. Biswas (Marketing GM) will never interested to show some karishma, now we are looking towards CGM Mr. Kaul. Idrisji as per your comment FYI Plz!!! my friends are also using the bSNL GSM Excel & Cellone in MH Goa state but they never shown us such drawbacks, if its related to deduction of money or call charges then we will look into it on priority basis. Pls send your contact number BSNL MSC person will contact you personally to sort this issue immediately & you will get your money back in 48hrs if found any mistake from system.

FYI MTNL WLL i.e. Garuda only upto Mumbra area. From Diva area BSNL start offering the services for WLL Tarang. but some places we found network of Garuda like Titwala Ganesh Temple surrounding area.

3G in Goa will be launched on 24/06/2010
Initially it will be launched with approx 100 cell sites , which will fully cover major cities like Panjim, mapusa, Vasco , Ponda & Madgaon
Also 60% NH and villages / cities coming under vicinity of the NH will be covered in first phase
Also few beaches will be covered

A info received from BSNL Mobile team you will definitely receive & make voice calls in 3G network but for video calls after activation of 3G services, during such condition if you browse internet you will get only GPRS speed not 3G speed which is 3.6MB/s, after activation of 3G you will definitely enjoy the lightening fast speed on your 3G handset (except N73 & some other handset which are not able to provide 3.6MBps speed) & on your pc or laptop. Wait till last week of June you will experience.

@Abhijit WLL / Fixed Wireless services comes under Basic Services so only BSNL or Maharashtra circle operator will provide that in Kalyan-Dombivili area.
However CDMA Full mobility services(like Relaince,Tata Indicom and MTS) will provided by Mumbai operators in Kalyan Dombivili area.

In Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, Badlapur area as now much pair of cables are finished in existing landlines numbers so new landlines connection is not available in many area as cable pairs are not available in that area so they give WLL handset for new willing user…

@Abhijit Dear Abhijit, Wait for some more days you will get 3G signal soon in your area. As per my sources, Ulhasnagar will get 3G services in 1st week of July.
Kalyan-Dombivili area not comes under BSNL,so only MTNL or Mumbai operators can provide 3G services in that area. At present there are some problems related to the power-backup facility and some more for MTNL GSM BTS in Kalyan-Dombivili area,so 3G Up-gradation work in Kalyan-Dombivili area take time.
At present whole Mumbai city including western Sub-Urbs -Navi Mumbai- Panvel-Eastern Sub-Urbs like Mulund-Ghatkoper and Thane area are almost covered for 3G service by MTNL. Work for seamless Indoor coverage is also going on as per information provided by MTNL.

I personally checked network search in UMTS mode in my nokia 3G enabled handset but I did not get 3G test signal in Ulhasnagar, Karjat area but you have mentioned that 3G network is live in test mode in Ulhasnagar, Karjat area!! So when they are launching in Ulhasnagar, Ambernath area which is taluka level place??
As per BSNL, Kalyan is district headquarters for Thane District as Thane city comes under MTNL service area, so whether Kalyan is going to get BSNL 3G services or MTNL is going to launch 3G in Kalyan- Dombivili area!!
If MTNL is going to launch 3G in Kalyan- Dombivli then why until yet it is not launched?? All other suburbs like Panvel, Navi Mumbai, Mira- Bhayender, Thane,Mumbra has MTNL 3G launched…

there are many derawbacks in 2g bsnl like if you use miss call alert caller will be charged for listening anouncement the subscriber is not reachable.
and if you switch off mobile if any one dials switched off bsnl number the announcement will be blank from other providers

Manu i dont think so if their i s network he will definitely get it without fail but in Ichalkaranji sites are not yet commissioned so he is not getting network,after 14th June BSNL will commissioned their most of the sites, uske baad sabhi BSNL 2G subscribers will get/see 3G network on handset if its 3G enable. But cant able to make or receive call through 3G network so all you BSNL guys pls keep your handset network setting on GSM only not to Dual mode. pls correct it immediately otherwise you will lose your important calls.

Nitinji, you hav to wait till month end,sites are equipped with triband BTS but need to commission, for the same BSNL Kolhapur gsm team are working very hard, speedily for 15sites.So you will definitely get the network till last week of June. But nitin, how your 2G number is identified by 3G MSC.. first you change your 2G sim to 3G sim by sending the SMS, and then change the network mode to UMTS or Dual mode.. you will get 3G signal, if its there..ok..

I live in Ichalkaranji in Kolhapur Dist. As of now/today when i change the network setting in my Nokia N73 from GSM to UMTS (3G) there is no signal on my BSNL. So i can say that there is no testing going on for 3G in my city. But still i believe in you and hope that you are proved correct so that i can enjoy 3G. By the way as per your source when it is going to be launched in my city?
