I don’t think so LTE will rock in india….sure it will take some time.. LTE main focus for DATA…if we speak about data,data usage is very less…still Indian prices are More for data usage…. we will see…

I would rather bring your attention to the present choice of major players here. I am not opposed to Wimax either. I just thought competition is good, as only when cdma players came voice rates began to drop.

From internet
The only winner of spectrum pan-india, Reliance Industries backed Infotel, has announced that it is betting on LTE. US based Qualcomm, also won spectrum in India will also roll-out an LTE network. Airtel, Aircel and RelianceComm are likely to use LTE as well, because it offers a sinlge evolution path for both CDMA and GSM.
India will prove to be a key market for LTE as a technology, because what happenes in India could affect the overall growth of LTE as a technology.

@Wimax expert
what do you believe is the next step for Tata Com. I too thought that Tata com would be one of the aggressive bidders given that they have invested quite heavily for the infrastructure and as you mentioned already providing the services??
jazz June 12, 2010 at 1:46 am
@indian
i won’t rejoice at Qualcomm winning in two most important cities ….Qualcomm has always been an opposer of WiMax which will be used in BWA..(WIMAX is supported by Intel n LTE is supported by other telecom companies including QUALCOMM, which is its main promoter) …and there is a concern in industry that Qualcomm may hold down the spectrum to ensure better progress path for LTE for 4G..(i.e. they will implement but not fully)

When R-power steps in , this is what happens
its insane , all the 22 circles
A dynamic entry for R to enter in to telecom space
we are waitin for insane tariff(R-tariff)
we all saw Mini Ambani , its time for Mega Ambani’s show
RIL = Vitamin M …. RIL aggressive oraganisation ,
they belive in “put the money,get the money”
Airtel knew this would happen , so i guess they entered cloud computing
me liking Mega Ambani in the show , we can expect some “_______”
DestinyFavChild June 11, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Hmm..so the Big Ambani is back into telecom! And how!! Amazing!!!
mekalwin T June 11, 2010 at 7:36 pm
Airtel says grapes are sour.
Indian June 11, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Overjoyed to see Qualcomm winning Mumbai,Delhi, Kerala and Haryana. Competition is good and now GSM has got real competition from CDMA. Great news.
Dinesh June 11, 2010 at 5:08 pm
this is entry of RIL, Mukesh in the telecom sector .. RCOM was brain child of mukesh .. but he is not able to keep hold of the same but now he is entering again by acquiring the infotel … good going .. we can see few more acquisition sooon by RIL in this sector .. as RIL have ample of cash too if required …
but RIL is targeting to selling to other companies only .. so may be other telecom companies can lease the bandwidth and provide the same to end user .. lets see
altaf June 11, 2010 at 4:59 pm
So at last mukesh ambani is back to telecom sector, now infotel will be a subsidary of reliance : )
mekalwin T June 11, 2010 at 4:56 pm
Once again telecom biggies specially Airtel, Vodafone, Tata and Rcom fail to get pan india licence for new age telecom services like BWA and 3G.
manmeet June 11, 2010 at 4:49 pm
@Bk
hi my brother bwa is another term in boardband services not included in 4g or 4.5g
MaNoJ June 11, 2010 at 4:30 pm
Dear Bk,
WiMAX, meaning Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a telecommunications technology that provides wireless transmission of data using a variety of transmission modes, from point-to-multipoint links to portable and fully mobile internet access. It offer up to 1 Gbit/s fixed speeds. WiMAX Forum has published three licensed spectrum profiles: 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz.
4G refers to the fourth generation of cellular wireless standards. It is a successor to 3G and 2G standards, with the aim to provide a wide range of data rates up to ultra-broadband (gigabit-speed) Internet access to mobile as well as stationary users.It offers the speed up to 100 mbps to 1 gbps.
But WiMAX and 4G technology comes in same family.

@Merc
Thanks. What confused me is HFCL GSM website took me to Videocon GSM website which caused the confusion. Also RIL is now acquired 95% stock in Infotel the we might see RIL in CDMA and GSM market very soon…RCOM Vs RIL
Arun June 11, 2010 at 4:20 pm
Now,Reliance industries bought infotel.
Bk June 11, 2010 at 4:05 pm
I guess BWA is 4G, wimax/lte, right?
MaNoJ June 11, 2010 at 4:05 pm
Aircle is rcocking again..
hardeep June 11, 2010 at 4:00 pm
RIL buys Infotel!!!!!!!!!!!
HURRAY!!!
Ashish singh June 11, 2010 at 4:00 pm
@Merc
thanks for the information
dUaNe June 11, 2010 at 3:55 pm
@Webly
WEBLY you are confused, just as KARTHIK KUMAR is!
The BWA auction is for wirless broadband, while 3G is for mobile broadband.
So you seem to be confusing AIRTEL mobile network (weak) with wirless broadband which is NOTHING to do with mobile services!!
>>Bad news that Airtel won in Maharashtra-goa Circle. Their network is poor in Goa.
Merc June 11, 2010 at 3:51 pm
@Ashish singh
its official now, RIL taking over Infotel http://bit.ly/cKYrOG
Merc June 11, 2010 at 3:48 pm
@Wimax expert they might tie up somebody who won the spectrum
Wimax expert June 11, 2010 at 3:38 pm
@Merc
Thanks Merc,
For the info ,As tata has not won the BWA ,are they be able roll out network as they have planned or they wil shut there wi-max bussiness.
I can also conclude that othere operator may also give there services in 3.3 ghz
Ashish singh June 11, 2010 at 3:37 pm
I guess Qualcomn is going to buy a stakes in GTL India ltd and then rollout there Wimax plan in Mumbai as well as in Delhi.
Webly June 11, 2010 at 3:30 pm
Bad news that Airtel won in Maharashtra-goa Circle. Their network is poor in Goa.
Ashish singh June 11, 2010 at 3:30 pm
But i have heard that RIL ( Mukesh Ambani) group is behind the tikona digital networks which has won in 5 circles
Merc June 11, 2010 at 3:27 pm
I wish qualcomn won in more circles, i want TD-LTE based network badly, its a lot advanced than wimax. i guess Qualcomn will partner with Reliance and implement TD-LTE network in the circles it won
Ashish singh June 11, 2010 at 3:26 pm
Is this auction going to create a job in telecom sector
Merc June 11, 2010 at 3:21 pm
@Karthik Kumar
Infotel is not videocon, its HFCL, which currently operates ping cdma mobile service in Punjab and GSM network under videocon name ( just brand sharing ).
RIL ( Mukesh Ambani) group is going to take over Infotel , and this is the reason they got the money to win Pan India spectrum. dont confuse RIL with RCOM. RCOM is owned by Anil ambani which currently operates reliance cdma, reliance gsm, flag tel
Merc June 11, 2010 at 3:16 pm
@Wimax expert
currnet tata wimax customers will not be effected, tata operates the current wimax on 3.3ghz spectrum for which they already have license, the current one being auctioned is 2.3ghz spectrum.
vikas June 11, 2010 at 3:12 pm
Wao again AIRCEL socked us …………………. He cover 8 circles its miracle good going AIRCEL……….. Its Time To Move On!
Karthik Kumar June 11, 2010 at 3:01 pm
Atlast Videocon won the license for PAN India for operationg WiMax. (They missed out GSM 3G part).
Ankit June 11, 2010 at 2:51 pm
3g vs BWA / Wimax is same like GSM vs CDMA
even BWA / Wimax cheap like CDMA i think 3g will be win like GSM in india
let’s see who will win the race
altaf June 11, 2010 at 2:48 pm
OMG govt made 1.06 lakh crores from auctions
Wimax expert June 11, 2010 at 2:44 pm
Hi All,
Its quite shocking…..That all biggies are out of the race i.e. like vodafone and Tatacomm.
What will happen to the exiting infra and to the blue print they have deplyed for rollong out network.
Tatacomm is already offering services on wi-max what will happen to the customer who are on wi-max .
Apart from all the succesful bidders the exiting subscribers on tatacomm network will lose there connectivity or what will be the solution…?
can any one suggest…..
altaf June 11, 2010 at 2:34 pm
lol completely changed scenerio in BWA results
Avishek Ghosh June 11, 2010 at 2:16 pm
Again Aircel……they r just going to spend all their money in these auctions….it is much better if they use those money in their present infra & strengthn their pathetic network…..
hardeep June 11, 2010 at 2:11 pm
nice! can anyone tell here what is the benefit of this? i mean will we now have hot spots or still will have to have our own equipments to access this service like wi fi?
