IDEA launches lowest tariff plans and bouquet of VAS offerings for mobile users in Chennai & Tamil NaduIDEA Cellular, a pan-India mobile operator and a recent entrant in Chennai & Tamil Nadu, has announced breakthrough tariff plans for mobile users in the state. The new tariff plans will offer more flexibility and freedom of calling to all categories of users – both low and high end – by offering lowest call rates in the market, and a bouquet of free Value Added Services.

IDEA subscribers in the state can now avail lowest call tariffs at 40 paisa per minute for all Local calls, and 50 paisa per minute for all STD calls on any mobile or landline network in the country. Along with reduced call rates, IDEA subscribers availing this tariff plan will also get 100 local and national SMS’ free per day. The first two local SMS’ will be charged at 50 paisa each, to get the free SMS service activated. To avail this tariff, existing IDEA subscribers can purchase a special voucher priced at Rs. 14, whereas new subscribers can get it for Rs.37, with a talktime of Rs.15.




IDEA Cellular has also introduced a Pay Per Second plan offering all ISD, STD and Local calls chargeable on per second basis. IDEA subscribers availing this plan will get to make all Local and STD calls on any network in India , at the lowest tariff of 1 paisa per second. ISD calls will also be charged on a per second basis. This plan also offers 750 local SMS’ free per day, after the first 3 SMS which will be charged at 60 paisa per SMS. Existing IDEA subscribers in Chennai & Tamil Nadu can avail this plan through a recharge of Rs. 15, whereas new subscribers can recharge with Rs. 38 voucher, with a talktime of Rs.15.
New IDEA prepaid subscribers availing any of the two new tariff plans will also get a bouquet of value added services, absolutely free. This includes zero monthly rental for Dialer Tone service for one month; free Song selection for a period of 7 days from the date of activation; and free Missed Call Information for one month.

The innovative tariff structure blurs the line between STD and Local calling, and mobile and landline networks, thus offering more value to IDEA subscribers in the state.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. M. Srinivas, Circle Head - Chennai & Tamil Nadu, IDEA Cellular, said, “With the new tariff structure, IDEA subscribers in the state will get the lowest tariffs in the country, and will enjoy the benefits while calling and SMSing, both locally and nationally. Mobile users can now use their mobile phones with absolute freedom without worrying about time or geography, thus driving mobile usage in a highly competitive environment”.

Post the launch, IDEA is rapidly expanding its services to cover 1500 new towns and would reach 8 new districts of Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Virudhunagar, Kanyakumari, Villupuram and Karur, by the end of the current financial year. National Highways leading to Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala will also be covered soon.
