Now a day the use of’3G ready GSM network” is the fashion of all 2G network operator, Its came just because of the MTNL/BSNL 3G service.
It’s marketing gimmick of other operators like Reliance and Idea etc.
The 2G or 2.75G GSM network equipment and equipment of 3G-WCDMA are different to deploy the GSM Mobile Network.

AFAIK, Idea’s Mumbai network is 3G Ready. If I remember correctly, they had advertised it as such when launching in Mumbai. It’s a good thing they are doing it though.
@Deepak
I use Idea’s and Vodafone’s GPRS service in Mumbai. I experience that Idea is better in that department than vodafone at the moment.

DEEPAK, with 3G auctions & immediate rollout thereafter, IDEA needs to be 3G ready.
The only way they can ensure this is by keeping the GPRS (small towns) and EDGE (large cities) ready for launch.

Is Idea’s GPRS service was not good? or what?
