GSM Sub Base Increases To 440 million, BSNL Regains 3rd SlotCellular Operators Association of India (COAI) have just announced the GSM Subscriber base details for June 2010 for the complete list click here .

It comes as no surprise to see an addition of 12.25 million subscribers, moving the total base from 427 to 440 million GSM subscribers.




While this does not include the Reliance GSM base (same not submitted to COAI) or Tata Docomo base (same submitted to AUSPI), the data shows a healthy growth rate across most operators:

While the biggest gainers have been Etisalat DB, Videocon and Uninor at 80%, 39% and 20% respetively (see data above), the market shares of the various operators have moved positively too - Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular gained 30 lac, 27.13 lac and 21.59 lac customers respectively.

However, in spite of this game, BSNL have beaten IDEA to move up from 4th slot (May 2010) to the 3rd slot (June 2010). BSNL's base increased from 65.80 million to 66.89 million last month. The details of the gross subscriber additions, as reported by the individual operators to COAI, are detailed below.
