Bharti Airtel Launches World SIM Service for International Travelers

Bharti Airtel announced the launch of “AIRTEL WORLD SIM”, a unique pre-paid SIM card for International travelers that allows to receive incoming calls on India Airtel number and still save up to 85% on Incoming calls while International roaming.

With Airtel World SIM service users can also make outgoing calls across the world and in the country they are in at a fraction of international calling rates.

Airtel World SIM can be used across 150+ countries i.e. there is no need to change Airtel India SIM for every country that you visit. One can buy the Airtel World SIM while still in India and enjoy the comfort and security of staying connected 24×7 when abroad without spending a fortune.

Airtel India customers can activate the Airtel World SIM service just by an SMS as follows-:

  • Just before leaving abroad, using your India Airtel SIM, send SMS “AWS A” to 58125 to activate your service. This would instantly activate your Airtel World SIM. However, please note that you would be unable to use your India Airtel SIM once your Airtel World SIM is activated, hence activation should be done just before departure.
  • If you would like to activate the Airtel World SIM at a particular time then send the following SMS “AWS A hh:mm”. You would need to specify the time (IST) at which you want the service to be activated in hh:mm format. On successful activation, you would receive a confirmatory SMS.
  • For example, if your international flight is at 10:20 pm , then prior to your departure send an sms “AWS A 22:20” to 58125. Note: Once the service is activated, you would be unable to receive any calls on your India Airtel SIM.
  • For Traif Details just click here- Airtel World SIM Tariff

Note-: Presently the Airtel World SIM is available only in Delhi NCR and it will be available in other cities soon. For more details call 1800-102-9933 (from India).

I have a prepaid Airtel connection taken at Chennai, Tamilnadu & my mobile No: 8144279896. I have sufficient
balance. I have come to USA and will stay for 6 Months.
I have brought my handset with SIM. I am unable to make
outgoing calls as well not getting SMS / incoming calls.
Please activate to enable me to use in USA too. Thanks Baldev

2.75G IS A PART OF GSM NETWORK.WHICH CONTAINS FASTEST INTERNET SPEED THAN GPRS SPEED.AND BETTER VOICE CLARITY THAN 2G.THIS IS ONLY USED BY AIRCEL, TATA DOCOMO AND BSNL MOBILE NOWADAYS

STUPID ONE OF THE FACT YOU HAVE TO KNOW THAT AIRTEL IS USING 2G NETWORK BUT NOT 2.75G NETWORK.OTHER COMPETITOR GSM OPERATORS LIKE AIRCEL, IDEA, VODAFONE AND BSNL ARE USING 2.75G NETWORKS TO IMPROVE VOICE CLARITY.

That’s a really great scheme launched by Airtel. Airtel World SIM works in over 150 countries and has very attractive call rates. I would surely recommend this for those travelling for a short duration. Check about the pre-paid card at http://www.airtel.in/worldsim

    voice clarity depends on Network,signal&handset
3.0G & 2.7G network have good voice quallity
to get a better voice quality u have to get min 3 signal bar while on call..

tell me whr AIRTEL has bad cvrg. I trvld many places in India. I saw & feel tht AIRTEL simply the best network while roaming. The billing problem of AIRTEL is less than other network. Yaa, thts true, the call rate & other is too expensive. Bt dnt forget tht, if u want to get the best service then u hv to pay. Pls tell me any other service provider who has the same service capability as AIRTEL.

We agree that all the operators having such kind of pblms.. If we raise an issue almost all the operators ( including Airtel ) will solve that if it is really a mistake from operators end ( I mean in case of billing VAS etc.. ).. Network issues they will solve only if it is worth for them…( Eg: they wont build a new tower for just 1 user or like that )

However GPRS and such kind of things , Airtel still have to move a lot. They have edge only in big cities, while idea have edge in almost all the towers.

Call rates of airtel is always higher than any other operators , even though they have the number one in customer count. if they come up with a new offer that will be a copy or that will have some drawback which a normal user cannot identify..

Agreeing Airtel have good network in many places but there are many places where airtel dont have gud coverage.. If airtel is continuing like this then i am sure that they will loose the number one position soon

airtel network is much better than reliance, aircel etc. tatadocomo is also quite nice in bangalore. airtel gprs @GB for Rs.98 is also a good plan. it already offers an international calling card to call from US to India, they are covering the remaining spots…
