Aircel launches ‘One Nation, One Rate’, Pioneers the concept of free roaming

aircel free roamingAircel today launched a revolutionary product ‘One Nation, One Rate’.

The product offers one rate for Voice, SMS and Data in home circles and on roaming on Aircel network. The product is an industry first, and will redefine the user experience and consumption of voice services in the country.

The product does not only do away with roaming charges but also provides lucrative voice, SMS and data tariffs.

‘One nation, one rate’ will provide the following One India tariff to Aircel customers:

Voice – Local/National calling at 1paisa/second in Home circle as well as on roaming on Aircel network. Incoming calls while on Roaming on Aircel network will be free
SMS – Local and National SMS at Re 1/SMS in Home circle as well as while on Roaming
Data – User will be able to carry the home circle rate while on roaming

The product is available in Andhra Pradesh for Rs. 25.

Aircel led the data revolution in India by launching Pocket Internet which changed the way internet on mobile was perceived and consumed. Aircel was amongst the first telecom players to make 3G affordable to the masses. And now, with the launch of this first of its kind product – ‘Aircel One Nation, One Rate’, Aircel has taken a giant leap in the voice market as well.

I must say this plan is almost worth it.. I recharged for this (RoTN Circle) and I went in for a small trip for a day to AP (Hyd) from Chennai. Though the coverage was not good enough enroute, I must say network has improved a lot compared to the last time I visited (about 2 yrs back). I was getting signal, at almost 90% times, when I tried using my Mobile. Was getting 3G coverage in almost all big towns on the way.

Within a day I received incoming calls for atleast 25 Mins & had to make STD calls for atleast 15 mins. I would have spent Rs.47.50 for all these. I ended up spending just 9 Rs, in addition to the cost of the voucher (Rs 49). I’ll be having call rate of 1p/sec for a month now, in my home N/W as well, as compared to my base tariff of 1.3p/s & 1.5p/s. So I’ll be getting profit in a few days time :-)

I believe it’s worth more than the cost in most circles, where it’s priced at rate lesser then Rs.49 (like Rs25,26,29).

See aircel.com for further details. There is a plan named ‘one nation’. And also readers, in W.B aircel introduced 199plan for unlimited local calls between a2a, 30days. So call ur friends with much more cheap unlimited.

    1. The validity of this Plan Voucher is 180 Days subject to min. Recharge of Rs 10 per Month.

    2. Tariff Benefits 1p/s Call, Re1/Sms Valid for 30 Days. There after Circle Base Tariff apply.
But you can get Free incoming calls for whole 180 Days.

    Website Updated.
Check Cirle > Prepaid > One Nation.

The exact wording of web site is
Condition Apply : Call/SMS @1p/sec & Rs 1/SMS (Home + Roam on Aircel network). Validity 30 days thereafter base tariff applicable. Plan voucher valid for 180 days starting at Rs 10.
That means 1 paise per second applicable on roaming only for 30 days and then calling rate becomes Rs 1 local and STD Rs 1.5 on roaming SMS also becomes Rs 1.50 per SMS

I m using Aircel from past 5 years. They always offer affordable tariffs with innovative plans. One thing which make them a very good player is transparency and customer centered approach. I have never faced any wrong deduction or false activation of any service.
This is my own genuine experience and feeling about the operator. Today I m feeling more delighted and a happy customer.

If its 80 min only then BSNL is best with unlimited incoming free in roaming for 180 days
But they recently raised outgoing rates to Re 1 and Rs 1.50 for Local and STD respectively from 1.2p/s – 1.5p/s earlier
Coverage wise BSNL is way ahead of Aircel

Again Aircel treated like step-mother the ASSAM and NE people. Its priced @Rs 44 for Assam and @Rs 59 for NE. Whats this? Most circles its priced b/w 21 to 25. But for NE its Rs 59 ?
What the meaning of ONE NATION ONE RATE?

This is not something which is inline with the National Telecom Policy 2012 clauses or its aim. The NTP suggests abolition of roaming charges which means all the consumer will be able to roam freely without paying an extra charge. If companies come up with plans to offer free roaming then it is not what NTP suggested as those who won’t recharge still have to pay roaming charge and the word ROAMING will exist.

So, maybe Aircel is trying to make some quick bucks before ROAMING as a whole gets abolished. If Govt will allow companies to go this route then there will be no meaning of ONE NATION, ONE PLAN.

Exactly @DB. actually, “Something” is better than “Nothing”. Especially, when The Govt. itself dnt know when and how THE FREE ROAMING will be implemented as the “A-Vo-Id group” continuously oppose this move and we ,The MANGO-PEOPLE of INDIA dnt know when The Govt. will implement so called “NTP 2012″(or 2102). More over, When Other operators increasing tariff upto 100%, then It is very much welcome step from Aircel for Indians.

It is not a good plan as for those who want cheaper SMS and calling rates have to talk at 1 paise per sec in their own circle also and they have to send message also at Rs 1 per SMS even when they are in home after joining this plan. One has take separate sim to avail roaming see details from one link below

Aircel is offering Voice – Local/National calling at 1paisa/second in Home circle as well as on roaming on Aircel network. Incoming calls while on Roaming on Aircel network will be free.
Aircel has priced SMS – Local and National SMS at Re 1/SMS in Home circle as well as while on roaming.

    Hi to all..
I just confirmed it’s only helpful to some particular users.
in karnataka users have to recharge RS: 26.
as per this plan only data & voice cal are free but msgs rates are same.
    with validity of 30 days.

AS PER THE N.T.P ALL OVER INDIA IS FREE FROM ROAMING IF SO THEN WHY IS THIS SPECIAL RECHARGE ??? AND WHAT IS THE ACTUAL AMENDMENT OF N.T.P??

    thank you…

This plan will be useful only if introduced by Airtel, IDEA, Vodafone and BSNL which has network in most of the circles.

    Reply
  • S.Sudhakar January 28, 2013 at 8:43 pm

Waste. Anyway call rate will differ if we enter another circle. It should be like Chennai-Tamilnadu, Kolkata-West Bengal, Mumbai-Maharashtra where a booster pack activated in one circle, it will be valid in another circle within the same state.
For example : A Chennai customer who has activated all local mobiles at Rs.0.30 per minute booster will enjoy the same benefit in Tamilnadu circle also. Like that it should be valid in roaming also (local mobile within the roaming circle at Rs.0.30 per minute).

Docomo had already launched nationwide roaming free few months ago. Also, why nationwide free roaming on Aircel network which is not strong in Mumbai and other parts of India? So it’s a hit or miss kind of a situation. If latched onto other network, roaming charges apply.

I will say as a Welcome Step by Aircel. I recall the days when BSNL was the first operator to introduce free Incoming call during Night time in the home circle, When other operators are charging Rs.1/- per incoming call.

    Good!!!

  • Firoze January 28, 2013 at 1:55 pm

Quite a good move, but I don’t think it’s too much of a game changer. Only the Voice tariff is something which is good.

Otherwise, each SMS at Re 1 is a bit too much.

And data roaming has been prevalent in other networks (eg. Docomo) for years now.
