Xiaomi's fourth smartphone in the Mi Mix lineup named as Mi Mix 3 is coming in October. To steal the thunder from Honor Magic 2, the company has teased the Mi Mix 3 which will feature a motorised front-facing camera module, like the Oppo Find X. Donovan Sung, the global spokesperson of Xiaomi has now posted a new image of the Mi Mix 3, which reveals the 5G network support. The image, which seems to be shot at a 5G network testing location in China has the Mi Mix 3 handset with no bezel on the top and a small chin. As you can clearly see in the image, the mobile data signal shows '5G+' icon, highlighting the device will have support for 5G, possibly the first device to release with fifth-generation wireless network support.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Confirmed to Launch in October
Last week, Xiaomi released a teaser image on Weibo highlighting the design of the Mi Mix 3. As you can clearly see in the image below, the Mi Mix 3 will have a large display on the front with no top bezel and a small chin. Wondering where's the front-facing camera is gone? Well, Xiaomi is doing an Oppo by choosing a fully mechanical moving part which houses the front-facing camera and a speaker. This is how manufacturers have achieved insane screen-to-body ratio on smartphones in recent times.
Snapdragon 845 SoC Likely to Power the Device
Xiaomi already launched four devices with Snapdragon 845 SoC- the Mi Mix 2S, Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition and the Poco F1. The Mi Mix 3 could be the fifth device from Xiaomi to house the Snapdragon 845 chipset on board. However, to achieve 5G support, Xiaomi might choose the Snapdragon X50 5G modem, which Qualcomm is said to launch in the coming months.
5G is Picking Up the Pace
In recent times, 5G network development has been picking up the pace, but we are yet to see a commercial device to launch with 5G support right out of the box. Huawei already demonstrated its plans to launch a 5G device sometime in early 2019, while Motorola has launched a 5G Moto Mod alongside the Moto Z3 a couple of months ago.
Xiaomi Mi Mix Lineup Always Brings Something Special
Xiaomi's Mi Mix lineup is to bring something special every year. The entire bezel-less trend was started by Mi Mix itself back in 2016. The Mi Mix 2 and Mi 2S also offered Full-Screen design on the front. With other manufacturers such as Oppo, Vivo beating Xiaomi at its own game, the Chinese company will add 5G network support to the Mi Mix 3, which again will be an industry first from Xiaomi.
